Lowering a dr 350

Just got myself a '94 dr 350. I am in love with it. It's been a challenge since being a woman of only 5'3" it can be difficult to find a dualsport. I've been riding a GY250-lifan-clone and was ready to upgrade.

Anyways, we've softened the suspension to the max so that I can sit with my toes touching. We plan to take the seat in and get it shaved down an inch or so as well.

I want to buy lowering links for the bike and wonder where do I get them from?
If I put the lowering links in, do I have to lower the front end too? And how would I go about doing that? Is that a shop-type job?

Hi, My friend has the same year and model bike as you,his isthe US model. He is of shorter stature as well, and his bike came with some home built lowering links, which he tried. Bottom line is they lowered the rear end too much, so much so that he would have had to shorten his kickstand....a lot. And the back was just too low...

Maybe try the Kouba website or eBay for lowering links? Or you could fab your own from some alumunim plate. Let me know if you need to do that and I can give you the measurements we figured out would work for him and you could go from there.

As far as lowering the front end, you can slack off the triple clamp pinch bolts and lower the front end as much as the handlebars will allow. The fork tubes will slide up in the clamps and lower the front end a bit. If you lower the front end the same amount as the rear, handling shouldn't be affected too much.Definitely something you (and hubby) should be able to in the garage with minimal tools. I"dget a manual for it ASAP, clymer or haines but trolleBay for the factory one if you can get it. Good for service information, bolt torque specs, etc.
