Has anybody tried Maxxis 6006 (50/50) tires on their 650 XRL? I'll be doing a bunch of longer "adventure" touring this summer (this happens when the guests have KLRs), and I'm sure the DOT knobbieswouldn't last long on the road.

Kenda k-270--- cheap and last a long time. Also one of the better handling 50/50ish tires. Did a run up into Vernon and through Fauquier and back down, in 30+ heat, good wear. No problem leaning way into the corners. Good on gravel, ok in the trails, crappy in the wet mucky stuff. I got over 5000 km out of a rear on my xr650.

Thanks for the response. I wasat the local dealer's today, and I saw that the Maxxis tires had gone up 30% from last year. I ordered 270 Kendas instead, and from your infoI'm glad I did. I'm not sure I got a good buy, though, it was $66 for the front and $77 for the rear. It looks like theyinflated too.....

I have run the Maxxis 6006 for two years on my DR650, not this year though as the price has slowly crept upand I also have some great dealKendas ready to install. However they were a decent tire, initial break in was weird but as they wore they were fun on and off road. If I were able to find a deal on some I would stock pile just for the heck of it. Last 6006rear is still on with 3500 Km's and ready for replacement.

Cheers, Alex.
