New Husky fairing

Thought I'd fling in a few pics of the prototype of the new fairing I've come up with for the Husky.

Unlike the previous KLR based models, this one is 'steering' based and designed to fit most DS bikes, with the Husky version out first ('cos it's the best bike and in need of the 'treatment' the most !!)

I've managed to retain the main features of the KLR models, which are the variable screen, GPS capable dash and lights that will burn your retina's out !

The dash is Carbon and unusually, forms a major part of the structure, so as to avoid using those chezzy 'elastic bands' or clamps around the forks.

Should be available end of Aug with an HID option (in either or both lamps)for those with limited electrical output or the need to see Bambi jump out from 4 miles back !!

hey that's a cool looking fairing. it makes the bike look a lot bigger and a removable windscreen would be nice.

how much would you sell those for?

also i've been looking for a new exhaust. is that a big gun on your husky? how do you like it?

Actually, the screen doesn't need to be removed, it just slides down out of the way when you're off road (or want to feel the breeze). You can see the up and down positions in the photo's. I was surprised that there is no difference in 'feel' from thefairing and it doesn't seem intrusive in the tight stuff. On the highway, it transforms the bike. With the screen up, you could happily cruise all day at 140 clicks. It really turns the bike into a mile eater (if that's your 'thing'). With the right seat, you certainly don't need a road bike in the Garage anymore.

They are likely to be between $450 -500 and will come complete with the lights & screen fitted, the Carbon fibre dash and a 'plug and play' wiring harness with the fuses and relays etc.

The exhaust is a Leo Vince. A bit louder, but nothing obnoxious. Runs much cooler (no cat) and is a lot lighter. Better 'snap' on throttle response.

That is a great looking set-up! I want to go out and log some serious back country/highway miles soon and the fairing and GPS hookup are definite musts for the 610...

Keep us updated on your progress andwe'll spread the word!

Thanks and cheers!:hb:

What about the BMW G650 X Challange, the Husky is a nice bike but the BMW is the one that can do highway speeds for long diststances.

Don't give us all that '"BMW is superior s..t !":)

Actually, I think the TE one will probably fit straight onto the Beemer BUT, only if you use a conventional front fender (which I know a lot of guys fit anyway). We'll have to try it out soon, it'll only take an hour to find out.

Looks excellent, makes me want a 610. But I might have to settle for one for my XRL. Does it come in black?

Great job again Ian,

This might just make my future bike decision that much easier. I'm looking forward to seeing the details.

I am looking for a new light at present - the stock one sucks!

Are you done with the proto and have then in production yet?

Not quite in production. All the various components are being manufactured at this time. Expect late October realistically. Price will be between $450-500 for the Halogen version, with HiD conversion available on either or both lights for around $90 per light. The Husky will power both Halogens, but if you intend to add heated vests/grips etc as well, HiD on at least the low beam is recomended (draws 35w)

More etail should goup on the website in Oct.

Cheers Ian- www.britanniacomposites.com:hb:

PS Colours will be Red, White and Husky Blue
