Hello everyone! I'm a new member from Seton Portage. I've ordered an XT225 for local trail riding and am getting back into riding after being away from it for about thirty years. My wife is interested in learning to ride and we will likely buy another dual purpose bike after gaining more experience.

Are there any other members using an XT225? If so, do you have any recommendations for mods or upgrades?

Also, there is a new campground being built here and it will be a great place for adventurous bikers to picnic or camp overnight.

welcome dgsl!

I ride a 05 xt225! I have not done any mods, or upgrades to it!

I am getting the carb jetted one size bigger because of the california emission make it run lean, other than that it is a great bike for trail riding and pissing off the "KLRnation" here on the island. not much of a hwy bike but in the bush it is a hoot. well everyone else is looking for a way around something I just crash over it, if nothing else I bring a lil bit of comedy to the island rides!

I did finally find a rear rack made for a xt225 I think its about $170us, I will get you the link but have not found alot of upgrade stuff for it!

just ride it for what it is and have some great fun doing it!:dr:

I have not found anything I can't do with! if it is bad enough pick it up and carry it over!:hb:

Darrell, just ignore theman behind the cheshire cat grin. He's too busy just having fun for any serious dual sporting. :D

Regardless of what he says he has never really passed me, it's all just a rumour he's trying to start!

Hi dgsl...

I havn't been around much lately but here goes. I bought an XT-225 a couple years agoand although not riding it much enjoy it quite well.

A usefullaccessory I've added is rear carrying rack made by www.promotobillet.com. out of Idaho. It was kind of pricey but a perfect fit. I had a local shop order it so I could avoid "extra" border charges.

There is a DSBC memberwho fabricateda rack for his XT-225 to carry two jerry gas cans.If I remember correctlyhe goes by, "Radarman".

I recentlyfounda usedrear wheel hub and rim off of a TTR-225 for $50.00. I bought a spoke kit ($75.00) and had it relaced. I mounted a larger rear sprocket and a knobby tire on this wheel. Top speed with this "set up" is about 50kph. -(good for trail riding). I swap back to the stock wheel forstreet use.

Hi there I see you have just bought a new 225, Thats agood little bike. XT RADARMAN and I both built racks for our bikes. There is a picture on the dual sport site of RADARMANS 225 as well as my 185 honda. these little bikes are not fast but are lots of fun. Look at Dead zone 2005 MUSTEXCC Mon. Sept. 12, and you will see my 185 honda. The gas cans are made into saddle bags and are indestuctable. I am in Kamloops , if your interested in a rack contact me at jforde @ telus. net

Takeyurtime, I'm glad to hear that you like the Promoto rack because I ordered one about a week ago. I'm also getting my dealer to put a kickstart kit on.

Rainman and Radarman, I'm sorry I didn't know about you earlier because I always try to buy BC products first.

Next time I need something for my bike, I'll check with this site first. Good site, good people....
