Ordered a TE610

I ordered a 610 enduro from 5th Gear.

I had thought about trading in my 05 R1200GS for an 08R1200GSA. Well, I really like my current 1200 and have got it kitted out the way I want now. Not to mention the cost of moving up to 08 GSA would be more than cost of a new 610.

Anyways, I wanted a hardcore Fuel Injected bike for Dualsporting and I am really looking forward to riding the 610.:tup:Yahoo!!!

Congrats!

You'll love the bike, the powerplant is strong as hell, the FI is great in the bush and for not having to fiddle with a carb for elevation and temp. changes. I just got back from 400+ kms. of A class enduro single trackand blazing down FSR roads all over the Kamloops area and the bike just took everything thrown at it like a champ.

I'm sure you've probably already checked it out butthe 610 thread on ADVRIDER and Thumpertalk are must reads for must-do-mods for the 610. They do have their moments where you wonder what Luigi was thinking when he designed or built it (no compression/uber stiff front forks...)but the good outweighs the bad by a long way.

Post up any questions you have or send me a PM and we'll hook you with any info you need on the'08 610...

Not sure about the '08's, but you will soon hear about the 610's appetite for 'eating' the camchain (sometimes within 5000 kms, as with mine !) It's an easy fix, you need to replace the automatic cam chain adjuster/tensioner with a manual one. I think Bill now has these in stock and if I were you, I would fit straight away from new.

The problem is that the stock tensioner is a spring/rachet system which applies far too much tension to the cam chain. When I stripped it down to get at it, the chain was like a 'Guitar string'. No wonder they stretch out so quick !

It's a small issue though and you'll love everything else !

Sofar I am happy with the bike. I just need to set the rear suspension up. It's bit too stiff on the rocky stuff.

The bike is nice on the road and still feels like a dirt bike off road.

For Mods I would like a better front light, maybe a larger tank, rear soft casesand a steering dampener.
