I have a 01 drz 400s and yesterday I put a new Clarke tank on it.When I took the old tank off I noticed the vacuum line from the petcock hanging there but did not see if and where it was hooked up.I have a Clymer manual and looked for it but it did not show if it was attached to anything,so I just let it hang there and now my bike runs like crap.Could somebody please help an old dumbass who is down on his luck? Thanks

Hi Mikeboy,

The vacuum line connects from the bottom of the petcock to a vacuum fitting behind the throttle cam on the opposite side of the carb. If the vacuum hose has come off you will have to most likely remove the tank to reconnect it. The usual procedure is to remove the line from the bottom of the petcock when removing the tank.

You must have the petcock in the prime position. If the petcock is in any other position the bike won't run as vacuum is required before fuel can flow.

Good luck. For great DRZ info the forum at http://www.thumpertalk.com is hard to beat.
