Stator Rewind

Anyone know where a guy can send out a stator and get it beefed up to handle better lighting!? (DR650)

There was a place in Kamloops years ago that did that with my old 1100's stator, costed $100. But they don't do that anymore.

You want me to check the Vancouver yellow pages or does it have to be in the Loops?

Ouch! Phoned the bike shop and they know of no one here. Called a place that does cars and marine stuff and they said you'd have to send it to Toronto..

I wonder if John J has registered on here yet? He's usually very good about knowing small hidden shops that'll do this kind of stuff.

So Thompson Valley Rewind won't do it....?

I need my Wee stator done and I was hoping to avoid the $325 bill for a new OEM one by having it rewound.

Go to the rewind shop, match up the magnet wire, find the right epoxy (3m scotchweld 2216) and do it yourself. Should cost you 40$ or so. Just take note of the wind direction on the poles and the wire conections (digital camera). And be carefull not to damage the coating on the magnet wire (don't twist or bend it). Clean the assembly with a shot of brake clean and coat it with the epoxy. It is a piece of cake.

Hey Ti Welder thanks for the idea but I'm all thumbs and the last thing I want to do is chance FN up something further, it does sound incredibly easy though.....

I picked up a card from Bata's Electric, think they were at the BikeShow a coupla years ago. You could try 'em. They're in Calgary. Ph/Fax 403 276 9544 Cell 403 703 9544
