Stator Upgrade

Has anyone had any experience with the stator/rectifier upgrade from RM Stator out of Quebec? I keep draining my battery trying to run an 80/100W headlight along with a set of heated grips, and I'm wary of the Electrex stator as I've heard about unreliability issues. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Try Ricky stator....great service, they hadmy crf stator back to me in about 3 weeks..Tried to talked to the guys back east and it just became a big pain in the $#@.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked their site and it doesn't look like they have one for the KLR650 (I probably should've mentioned that was the bike in my first post). Any other suggestions?

Just give them a call and they will fix you up.You will probably have to send your old stator to them for rewind....I had to.With the Canadian dollar being so high,the total cost for arewind and a new regular plus shipping was $175.00 can.:tup:

I'm using the 300 watt stator from electrosport.

No problems, installed it myself.

I'm headed in this direction with my KLR and I have similar concerns. I've heard you can run a heated vest and grips from the stock stator, but others have upgraded. However upgraded is a relative term. Depends on the RPM. The higher watt stators I've seen so far have alot less output at low RPM so some complain of issues in stop and go riding. need to look at the output graph.

Also other things can be done to stay efficient with power. I'm looking at LED's for the tail light. Seeing if I can get a high efficient headlamp. Then it's a matter of finding a vest and grips that are efficient or have variable settings that save power.

I installed the Electrex stator; it came with a matched rectifier/voltage regulator. They are a very experienced company with a wide range of products. A lot of older Goldwings are running because of the Electrex products, for instance. I was very impressed with the pieces. You will find a significant improvement in engine performance because the voltage will finally be stable and at a correct level. Note the comments about the voltage at the headlight on the KLR being low by 1.8 to 2.0 Volts. The problem begins withthe deficient stock system. My headlight voltage is now correct. The firing voltage at the plug is so improved the idle speed rose about 150 RPM after the installation and I had to back it off a bit. My KLR650 is a 2002 with only 7000km at the changeover, basically new. The battery was new also - the maintenance free Yuasa. So my results are attributed to the Electrex product IMO.

I have the Electrosport 200W and it drops noticably at idle to about 11 volts. It comes up real quick when I accelerate. I usually keep the revs up at lights!
