Anybody....somebody? I pulled the snorkel on my KLR, did the L-Mod in the airbox and will put in a KLX needle, new crisper needle jet and slide spring, smaller mainjet to compensate for the richer needle, got my thumbsrew air mixture thingy and was just wondering if anyone had a similar setup with an IDS2 Quiet Series Supertrapp? Just wondering if I should start with all 12 discs since I got more volume flowing in now.

I had one on a DR650. Ran it with 12 discs and a 160 main jet. Tried 8 discs, I felt that midrange had improved. Very loud with 12 discs. Needed repacking frequently... It's ok but prefer the FMF Q2.

Did you have the "Quiet Series" supertrapp? I got that one as I keep reading the race series is way too loud.

I have the quiet core IDS2 on my XR-L and absolutely love it. I am running 8 or 9 disks in it (memory failing), and it's a little louder than stock, but not a "loud" bike by any stretch. Weighs a lot less than the stock one, and makes it sound more like a bike and less like my lawn tractor, with a modest increase in power and response. Also jetted to a 160 at sea level and works well. I would by another if I was to do it again.

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks xrd8, that is great to know! Stock KLR's sound like a lawn tractor too..lol

I'm not sure about my jetting yet, but since I will dropping in a KLX needle which is already very rich, so stock MY is 148 and I'm thinking 145 to balance it all again.

No, mine was the early style. Sounds like the new quiet version is a good choice.

Good to know Buck, thanks! I got this special emulsion tube "needle jet" that is not originally for KLR's, but it is supposed to be more efficient at atomizing the mist, so getting itchy now to put this all together with the pipe to see if I wasted my money or not :D

I'll bet you'll notice a big improvement, especially in the midrange. Similar mods to mine made a world of difference, like a new bike. :woohoo:

After putting around with my DL1000, I felt I needed to do something to give my KLR that extra punch :bliss:

I know, but it should be fairly good on the throttle after the mods. In stock trim they are all lean and feel like they are chocking.
