TDI Comfort Seat for KLR?

The stock seat on my 09 KLR gives me a very sore ass after several hundred km of highway riding. I bought an Alaskan Leather sheepskin cover but that seemed to make it worse, as the stuff is slippery and my butt tends to slide forward, increasing the pain. So I switched to a Crappy Tire gel pad, which is a little better but still sort of squishy and a bit slippery.

I have read a positive review on the TPI "Comfort Seat" - it seems to be the ticket. Has anyone in DualSport any experience with the TPI seat?

I would like to get into long distance touring but need to first find some comfort so that I can enjoy the experience.

I bought the gel seat from Dual-star for my 99 KLR, i can do twice the distance as with the stock seat.
Seat kit was a do it your self kit and i did.

+1 for SEAT CONCEPTS. Riding buddy with a Husky would add another "+1". Rode non-stop from Nelson to Nakusp, could not have done that with the stock seat. Could have gone longer but there was a stop sign (and I was part way through the reserve fuel).
If you can spare the seat for awhile, send it to them for the install.

I use an Airhawk seat pad made by Roho. Check out reviews on the web. It makes my Spanish Inquistion torture device, also know as a seat, on my Sherco super comfortable. Take it on and off as I need as it rolls up small enough to stow in my back pack. Roho makes mattresses for burn victims and seat pads for wheel chairs so they know a thing or two about comfort.

I have a sargent seat on my klr. Absolutely love it. You can email them and ask them to honor the price I paid. They might or might not do it. I then sold the factory seat for 100.00 on Ebay bringing my cost for comfort way down. Here is a copy of my invoice. And I use http://www.hagensofblaine.com/index.php to receive parcels on my behalf since a lot of US companies offer free shipping to USA addresses. Ed

Thanks for all your ideas for a comfortable KLR saddle!

I ordered the TPI Comfort Seat (http://www.tpimotorcycleparts.com/i...age=flypage.tpl&product_id=250&category_id=54)

because it is significantly wider than the stock version and therefore reduces pressure by spreading the butt over a large contact area. After a long wait (2 months) while a fresh batch were being built in China the seat finally arrived. It is super-light compared to stock, about 1" lower, and drops right in. I covered it an Alaska Leather sheepskin and went for a long ride. It is like sitting on the sofa in front of the TV with a cold beer and a good game on! So far it is thumbs up. Next riding season, when I go on long multi-day expeditions, I may update my conclusions.
