Hey Farp, I'm sure you've already done it before but a nice road route is Sumas, #9 to Sedrow-Wooly, #20 West to Deception Pass, Ferry from KeyStone Harbour to Port Townsend (Hit the SeaStar restaurant), take #20 then #101 south to Olympia, West on #8 to Aberdeen and Long Beach WA. If you plan on staying in WA you can keep on going for a fantastic ride around the whole Olympic Peninsula on the coast via the #101 back to Port Angeles for a trip to Victoria or keep on to Port Townsend and take the same ferry back to Whidbey Island.

I have done this run , including going much farther south, 3 times and it's one of the best ever. Being out on the west of the Olympic Peninsula on the #101 against the ocean and in the forest, all by yourself, is awesome. you can even hit the beaches and some very nice salty water! Don't forget to wander off on #113/112 on the North end for some amazing roads and scenery. The #101 on the East side of the peninsula is really cool too, just can get busy on holiday/summer weekends.

After 20 years of road riding, which was great, I switched (I say that because I can only afford one bike (barely) or I would do both) and DualSport is my new challenge. I am loving it and I can understand how a person needs a new horizon after a while. I enjoy all biking and bikes and that what it's all about. When enjoyed with friends any form is fantastic.

Thanks Buddie, I've ridden the roads you mentioned several times and totally agree with your assessment of them - they are great motorcycle roads. I'll be heading west on Hwy 20 to Twisp and then south to Yakima. From Yakima I'll head west on Hwy 12 to Randle and then south to Carson. From Carson I'll work my way south on the secondary county roads to Weaverville California and then I'll work my way over to the coast and come home on 101 so I will be doing the routes you suggested on the way home. If time permits I'll take the western route around the peninsula but if not then I'll take the eastern route to Port Townsend as it's about 100 miles shorter.
