Took the Husky out for a run this weekend.

Did the first oil and filterchange this weekend, got insurance, got new pioneer rain gear and had a blast. I love having a 6th gear. Most of my riding was on road from Burnaby to Mission and back with all kinds of detours and stops. Top speed today was 111 km/hr and Husky 510 loved it! I put on 250 km on her. I'm looking forward to a trip over to the island in a couple weeks. If it's nice, we might go to Bamfield and back. I hope to have new sprockets for the trip. Changing from 14/50 to 15/46 for the longer trips.

Hey there

I'm thinking about getting a 610 or a 510, do you now what the biggest differences are between these two bikes?

As far as your sprockets go, stay short, thereis wicked single track everywhere here...if you are into that sort of thing !!:wi:

Hi hookeniggy, they are 2 different bikes for sure. The 610 is a dualsport bike that can be raced and is raced. The510 IS A RACE BIKE that can be dualsported and is dualsported. The 610 is more of a gentlemen'sbike that has a little more comfort for longer road trips, It has a keyed ignition and I think it's electric start only. The 510 is a woods weapon that's also fun in the city for ripping around and connecting trails but is'nt good for any highway trips over an hour. It has no keyed ignition but has electric and kick start ( kickstart is never needed ). The 510 is also more than 50 lbs lighter than the 610. Both are great bikes. It depends what you want. There is lots an lots of good information on www.thumpertalk.com under husky 4 strokes. Your question has been asked and answered many times on that site.

OK. Will do another ride over this spring with a few buds and I will post it then. I have a 07 TE510 and another bud has a 07 TE450. My brother rides a XR650R and would also be into this trip. I will carry my small front sprocket to put on for the single track (only takes 5 min.).

HI big

Thanks for your prompt reply, i'd like to go for anacrossamerica's trip, so that'll probably put me on a 610, wanna join up with 2 buddy's that had to retreat from a global trip after an accident in Mongolia, they both ride GS's, not my dirtbike!

They're thinking about getting katoom adventure's, my experience on them are great, but to much vibrations on longer trips, heard the husky's are less vibrant?

Heard the husky's are pretty reliable, but heard other story's too.

We're planning to go into Mexico and central America, would you take a 610 there as far as reliability goes?

Thanks iggster

My bike has been very reliable

Thanks iggster
I would think about this or a 900 something KTM.

Thanks for the info, found some stuff on the meca website (dakar kits), looks like they have complete kits to convert bikes into comfortable longdistance rallybikes, and all the parts to get rid of the vibes like the cushi rear hubs, lowgravity tanks, faring, the high handlebar probably wind up spending the same money as a beemer.
