Trailtech vapour problem

having trouble with the Trailtech vapour fitted on my Berg. The speedo stopped working and I cant find any problem except with the rotor magnet. The sensor mounted on the brake caliper is not sending a pulse to the unit when the magnet passes but when I try waving a large magnet that I have at the sensor I get a pulse. I'm wondering if the magnet is somehow faulty although it does still have some magnetism. Has anyone experienced such a thing?

I had a similar problem on my XR650. Intermittent signal to speedo. Mine needed a new cable. I sent an email to Trail Tech, they responded the next day. They would sell me the part but it cost more for shipping than the part. I got the cable at Action in 2 days. Only $3.00 more than out of the states. Excellent Service.
Good Luck Loz.

I haven't had a problem with mine but the magnet doesn't seem to be as strong as some rare earth magnets I have. I found that the Husa magnet mounted in the rotor would pull a screwdriver in from about 1/4 inch away. Not an exact measurment of magnetism I know but my Gauss meter and Linear accelerator are currently at my cousins place.

Lee Valley in Victoria sells rare earth magnets, if you can fine one that is close to the same size. http://www.leevalley.com/en/ Might be quicker than ordering one. If you measure yours Loz I have a few different sizes of them at my place. If there's one thats close your welcome to it. I'm in Cobble Hill just up the road from you.

I betcha its the wire. My experience is that magnets are pretty reliable. Tons of Hall Effect sensors out there on all sorts of equipment and I don't think they would be used if they weren't reliable. When is last time your compass stopped working.....but it is easy to damage the wire from sensor to speedo. Had a similar issue with my Sherco sensor which is mounted near the rear sprocket. Sensor got hit and broke a wire right at the sensor. I managed to repair the wire and it works fine.

my 2 cents.....otg
