Hello all-

I’m a newbie here having just bought my first dual sport (KLR650) and also just moved to Vancouver- I used to have a two car garage and lots of tools- now the tools are mostly in storage and I live in an apartment with no room to perform any mods- this and I have never really gotten into motorcycle repairs before (cars no problem)- I have a big box of stuff from Dual star (went a bit crazy at their facility in Lynwood wa.)I would like to install and I sure would like to meet up with some folks who know the bike and to do some riding as well since I don’t really know anyone here-

Current Planned mods-

Progressive front springs

Subframe upgrade

Motor mount upgrade kit

Lock tight nuts on everything

I have the pump guard, rad guard and skid plate on back order but I will probably just ride down and install them in the dual stars shop (they offered, nice folks)

Looking forward to hearing back from you all-

Luther...

I think you are the guy that stopped and chatted with me when I was hosing down my DR. If I remember right you moved up from Montana right?

I think I saw you yesterday bombing down Marine by UBC on a new RED KLR with some gear strapped to the back?

I am also pretty sure that you live like half a block from where the wife works. I do remember seeing a RED KLR in the back of a truck with Montana plates.

I too have little space to do maintanace and upgrades, but I am lucky enough to have access to the shop at work (south Burnaby) on weekends and evenings. If you are looking for a place to do some work and an extra hand, keep me in mind. I have pretty much a complete set of hand tools/wrenches ect...and the wife got me one of those handy Canadian Tire MC lifts for XMAS. I am pretty new to bikes, but have done a fair bit of work to mine so far.

I also heard that the newbie ride is being planned for sometime in March. I went on the one back in the fall and it was a blast. You should definately come out and meet a bunchfrom the group.

If you are looking to do some riding on the weekends....drop me a line. I am bouncing back and forth between here and Victoria for work, but ride any chance I get when I am home.

Cheers...

Pete

If you've got time this morning give me a call on my cell at 604-813-2400. We are doing the subframe upgrade on an '04around 10ish in Port Coquitlam. I did mine on Friday and we have all the tools laid out.

its the one year anniversary with the wife- if I go work on the bike today, I will not be having another (anniversary).

Huge thanks for the offer

Pistol, yep, that was that’s me- only there’re Washington plates (Seattle). You may be hearing from me in the near future…
