When I sat on one all I could think was that it felt heavier and a lot higher than the first Gold Wing I rode in 1975.

It seems like Honda is moving backwards not forwards.

Honda lately does not seem to be thinking IMHO.

That looks like it maybe a nice street bike, but thats all it appears to be is a street bike.

I just looked at the specs for this bike and was shocked by the weight. At 276kg fully fueled, it's 47kg heavier than a 1200GS and 69kg less than the F800GS!!!

I like Hondas, but what the......?!

You're saying that the 800GS is 116kg heavier than the 1200GS.

this bike has been out in europe and other countries for quite a few years. it has quite a following like the Africa Twin does. i would compare it's offroad capabilities to that of the Vstrom1000 [208kgs], very mild. i would say it is meant for a taller rider, i would have def bought one of these as opposed to my strom, if they were avaliable in canada back then.

Seems like a direct competitor to the V-Strom. MSRP of the Varadero is $13,999. The V-Strom rings the register $11.999. F800GS @ $12 250. Good luck selling the new "Dirt Wing".

I'd buy the V-Strom 650 for $8,999 and save myself 4-5 grand if I were so inclined.

Hey the XR 650L has a rear white fender!!! this year. Unless I'm mistaken, with recentupdates to the KLR, V-Max, Concours, Ninja 250 it is the longest running unchanged Japenseproduction model available (17 years and counting). Something to be said for getting it right the first time but maybe time to hook lights, quiet muffler and DOT tires on a CR450F!
