I have a 2007 SM610 but with a twist !! I have a second set of Dirt bike wheels complete with front brakes and a large tank. The bike also has a davinci pipe , JD Jetting and a ram valve and more !!!
So what do you think its all worth ??? The bike has about 4600k on it and I babied it so the tires are all in great shape and the bike needs nothing . Bark busters and skid plate dont come with it .

I was at 5th gear last year looking at these, were selling for $6500+tax.

Your's is nicely set up, I know some people that would be interested for sure. In fact I'm sending and e-mail to a guy right now...

I wouldn't take less than $5000 for that.:hb:

I have almost $10,000 in it with the second set of tires and breaks, not to mention the $300 tank. I would think that would be low ??? no ?

Talk to anyone in the auto industry (includes motorcycle)

You have a 5000 bike with 3000 of accessories:(, unfortunately you will have to find someone who wants your bike and is willing to pay for the accessories. That will be a long hard wait usually.

If you are like me you remove all the good stuff, take it back to stock. Then try and resell the accessories, or if you are really like me you store the accessories until they are collectibles:gaah:

By the way, that is a nice looking bike:tup:

Yeah sorry ....guess I cut you a Reality Cheque for the bike.:(

I'm sure you've heard of 30% depreciation the moment it leaves the showroom, not to mention it's a dirt bike....which generally means closer to 50% (used and abused).

I've seen 3 year old KLR's come in for $3000 (less than half of new) and they needed close to a $1000 to get em saleable again.

You'll always find someone with no clue (not me) about bike values that will pay without researching a bike or even checking craigslist to see that the average prices are.

General rule of thumb.....you get about half of what you put into it....you say $10000, sells for $5000....I was pretty close.

Great bike...and if I was anywhere near able to ride, I'd be all over this like a fat kid on a smartie. IMO, don't sell it.

That is correct. Working in theautomotive industry has certainly re-wired my brain as to the value of used vehicles (bikes, cars/trucks, 5th wheels, etc). Not to go into any sort of detail, the absolute short list ofthings I'd consider in valuinga 2007 trade-in would be:

1. what does a brand new 2009 model retail for?
2. what is the real retail price of the 2009 after any manufacturer rebates. Any rebates are "mentally deducted" from the price (i.e., buy-in cost) of the used bike.
3. what major changes have happened between model years 2007 & 2009? Things like fuel injection, better suspension, etc, aremore "mental deductions".
4. what would I be willing to sell my 2009model for since I need to make room for the incoming 2010's? Any further in-store price cuts are, you guessed it, more "mental deductions" from the value of the used 2007.
5. what is the monthly paymenton my clearance priced 2009 factoringsubventedfinancing rates? If the rate is say 1.9% for example, how much would the payment compare to the used bike using a bank rate for a person with an average credit rating? If these figures are too close, then there's more "mental deductions".

Using the above points (& other stuff too long to list) I'd come to a figure for a used 2007. The farkles added would hardly enter my mind & I usually I pretend they're not even there.

For the most part, bike prices are too small to take advantage of any tax savings by trading it in on a new one, & private sales are usually the way to go. However, my above thoughts are still valid if you sell it privately since the process would be contemplatedby an informed consumer rather than a dealer.

Im in Maple Ridge .
So what Im getting from the offers I have had so far is that I should strip the toys off it and sell the bike and toys separate, mmm I did have an offer of $700 for the off road toys about 6 months ago, and an offer of $4900 for the bike. Now I just have to find the guy that wanted the parts again. Thank guys
Now the only problem is that I REALLY DO like the bike and I cant bare to see it go :(

modifications do increase the value of the bike. Try to sell them all toghether first and see what people want. If they don't want certain things you could negotiate on reducing price accordingly with taking aftermarket stuff off. Your rims and wheel set is alone worth 1200-1500 and the IMS tank is 300. I'd say your bike is worth 6500-7000k with all the stuff. Don't sell it now. Sell it in the spring.

Be careful of the value given to you by a dealer. A typical motorcycle will depreciate 20% the first year, then 10% per year for the next few if it remains in clean condition. After that, it depends more on demand, availability, etc... A dealer will offer you generally 20% less than it's market value on a trade which is fair as they then have to sit on it until it sells and in order to stay in business must make a profit. Besides, after your tax advantage on a trade, you're only really about 10% less than retail which makes sense for a lot of people to just trade.

Regarding accessories, some dealers may give you some value for your accessories, typically 10-50% of their value, but when they price the bike on the floor will definitely be charging something for the extras.

If you buy a used dual-sport with no handguards, rad guards, skid plate, rack, tank, etc... you will pay retail for that stuff when you buy it. So obviously those parts have value to the buyer, add it up and subtract 30-50%.

I recently traded my TE610. Took off the nice extras and sold them separately. The dealer wasn't interested in giving me any value for the upgrades with the trade so I stripped them off. I only have the wheels that are still for sale....

I know what you are saying about not wanting to let it go. I miss mine already, but want to get something lighter to replace it.
