I just picked up a 2001 DR 650 - Woohoo! :D

It has one of the standard Spitfire windscreens installed on it, and it doesn't look too bad. It fastens cleanly to the bars and tucks in behind the headlight shroud quite nicely.....and it doesn't look too dorky. IMO

I'm just sorting out plates, insurance etc, so I haven't had a chance to see how well it works on the highway.

I'll try to post a pic later today.

sbruton - not to hijack this thread but... any good areas to ride around Canmore? I've spent a lot of time in the area climbing, but never paid any attention to riding areas.

Thanks.

Ah, no worries... It's all related to riding anyway! :D

Unfortunately, there really isn't a great deal of riding in the immediate vicinity of Canmore since most of the land is Provincial or National park. There is a good gravel road that heads south from Canmore into deep Kananaskis Country (Peter Lougheed Park) but that's about it.

Aside from that there are almost endless trails/ logging roads/ single track in the Ghost/ Waiprous area. It is off the Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy 40) that starts on Hwy 1A in between Cochrane and Canmore.Although, this areahas been subject toland use studies etc. and has seen a lot of closures lately. :(

The other big OHV area is McLean Creek that is located SW of Calgary. It has a wide variety of roads, and single trackbut gets extremely busy with quads, 4x4s, dirt bikes etc etc.....

I have used a KLR short windscreen. Sorry but no pic today. I find that it does a good job of taking the wind off of your chest making it a bit easier to stay on the bike motoring down the highway.
