hay fellas

has anybody dualsported up a wr450f? if so how is it on the road? as a daily driver?is there more maintenance than my drz400?? i know these things are awesome in the bush, that is what i want, but will it work as a dualsport bike?? i want a lighter more bush trail friendly bike, that can handly the occasional highway ride to check out new trail in other towns.

thanks randy

Have you thought about the new street legal KTM 450? Might be worth a look as an option.

Don't drink the orange cool-aid. The Husky TE450 will make you happy.

hay wind

thanks for the info. does your bike have a tach, and if so what kinda rpm does it run (or sound) like at say 95kmh?? would you feel ok (other than sore a@*) doing a 300km road ride(to get to new trails)?? i know these bike are light so i would expect a little vibration on the highway. it would be a blast to rip through the bush on a wr450, iam not worried about how it would perform there, it is just the combo of riding that i do that makes me wonder?? thanks fellas.

later, randy

I've got a dual sported 06 wr450 which I picked up at GA Checkpoint in Port Moody. They put their streetster kit on it andI insured it right there at the dealer with no problems. 2300 kms sofar, change the oil and have had the valves checked once and they were in spec.Booked for the next valve check next week.Great shop and great experience for me.

sweet...... those alum frames look pretty trick. Um technicaly with the Nivis (sp) form that should have come with the bike all you'll need to do is bring it to the DMV and regiser it and ur done.... lol but to actully make it street leal I am running a Baja Desings lighting kit that well hmm is pretty butchered, I have an acerbis cyclopes light a different kind of LED taillight ( the BD one sux) and for signals I'm using some that I bought at adrenaline they are big and visible. One thing I've found runnig ur headlight wears the battery down the stator can;t keep up too well so use it wisely, also try to kick it as much as you can as thsi will save you're battery and starter

Hey thanks for the reply, I figured the battery wasnt gonna be as good as the old DRz's was its a tiny little thing and the stator puts out less power as well.Never had any real problems with the DRZ but I alweays had it plugged into the Battery tender which I am using on the new blue beast. i really havent had any time to ride it yet but plan on getting out this weekend to start breakin her in!

hay fellas

thanks for all the info, i have been reading alot of good things about the wr450 as a dualsport bike, and think that it is the bike for me. 30km each day to work, and to the trail on the weekend. i think she can do it! i love my 06drz400, but the wr would be alot more fun in the bush.

Try out a Husqvarna TE 450 or Te 510. All ready street legal with a 6 speed trans that cruises on a highway just off idle and it's a great tight trail bike. There tough as nails and very easy to work on. You won't be dissapointed at all.
