Your feelings about an 03 WR450F

I've been looking for a decent 300 + cc bike that I could possibly dual sport and the WR450 seems to fit the bill. I can score an 03 in the US for $3000 ( likely $4000 with exchange/tax and getting it home etc etc etc) ... Bike was light use, pics look mint and owner claims 1500 miles on her and all maint done. I'm thinking it's a good buy.

Just wanting to hear from others who've owned or who own one..how they like em, any issues/defects and so on. My other small ( could be large ) concern is they are kind of tall ( I have a 30 " inseam)....

Let me know your thoughts guys

I just bought one that had a baja kit on it out in Manitoba. Shipping and purchase price included was $5450 CAD. Silly Silly bike. I changed the bars to a .243 racing fat bar, which raises the bars 1.5 inches, built a rear rack for it, and just bought a 6.6 Gallon tank for it. The moose hand protectors mount to Bonz handguard mount kit wich makes the chance of bending the bars slim.I had a DRZ400E last year and loved it , but wanted more power and jump-ability. This is it!

cheers:hb:

What a smallsmallworld.... You I think I was chatting via email two days ago with the chap that must have sold you that bike ( I live in Winnipeg)

I had seen iton the Buysell website and was just seeing if he had sold it yet, what he got for it and if he liked the bike overall...

Some pics would be nice too.. Might go scoop the one i've been eyeing up on the 25th.

Hi Crispy, where did you get the 6.6 gal fuel tank from and will it fit a 2003 WR-250?

You will probably have to get ahold of your local Yamaha dealer and see if they will bring one in to try it to see for sure. Acerbis couldn't or :ted:wouldn't say for sure if the tank would fit my bike or not, so we brought one in and it luckily fit.:dr:

I need to read on how to attach images and then i will send some out. It looks SICK!

Good luck

I have a wr 450 w/ baja kit. I'm trying to make it better for long rides. Is there a better seat available. are heated grip a good idea? I was going to get some but they said I'd have to drill a hole in the bars, didn't like the sound of that. Before i race out and drill holes in my bars, thought i'd get a 2nd opinion, i got some FIT hand gaurds to keep the wind off my hands, maybe that will solve the prob.

you don't need to drill holes in the bars, just leave enough slack in the wires to work the loud handle.where do you ride in Alberni?

I just put a Trick dual sport kit on my 04... used the stock headlight & tail-light too, so looks nearly factory, haven't ridden this season yet as there is too much snow in Whistler still, but I have the same inseam as you and I havent had any trouble as of yet (although I need to slow the rear rebound dampening a little)....
