Anyone know who sells the Yuasa batteries for the KLR at a fair price? My last one failed after one year, but I did not keep the invoice. Part # is YTX14AHL-BS and is the maintenance free type. Most shops want around $125.00 + tax which seems a little unreasonable for a dingy little battery.

Yeah I just bought one for mine, but I installed the Battery Tender to it......Will last at least 5 years that way.
I was told 10min later I should just have bought the Gel one !! Haha.....nice !!

KLR riders are sooooo cheap!!
ive paid up to $160.00 for a bike battery and have never sold a bike to anyone that didnt have a fresh battery..[i always get a brand new battery when i buy a new vehicle]...that BATTERY PLACE sells recycled/refurbished batteries for half the price,sothat might work for you...get a tender to hook up your battery during downtimes or winter and bring the battery indoors to prevent diminishing power or deathin cool temps..yeah,prices for things are WAC lately but the battery is -IMO- the most important vital component to purchase for your motorcycle besides tires and doohickeys......

Yes, KLR guys are cheap I did have mine hooked up to my battery tender. The battery just went dead completely and I could not charge it anymore. Just a dud battery. I don't mind paying good money for a good product, but sometimes don't like getting ripped off I guess.

my 99 has gone thru 3 batteries. the original, and two yuasa batteries, both purchased at canadian tire. and tell them you will do the initial charging at home if you have a charger. you can also tell them you don't want to wait for them to mix the acid and can do that at home if capable. Ed

Thanks! I picked up the CT Eliminator AGM maintenance free one which is supposed to be the Yuasa copy and so far so good. Put in the acid and charged it. Actually the tolerances of the CT battery was better than the Yuasa one I had before as the Yuasa was too tall and nearly impossible to put the plastic cover over the top of it again when setting it back in the KLR.

well it seems time to buy another battery. I have now gone through the original plus 3 Yuasa batteries. This time around I went a different route and bought an AGM Deka battery. Been reading up on different batteries while the klr is off the road. here is a link http://www.etx15l.com/ $$$$ 72.00 $$$$ It comes with free shipping in continental USA and I had them ship it to http://www.hagensofblaine.com/index.php Hagen's sends an email when it arrives so I can drive down to Blaine Washington and pay them 2.50 to pick it up. There is a yearly 12.00 fee on top of each 2.50 fee for each parcel. What a deal since I can now avoid the dreaded UPS mystery fees along with any other shippers brokerage fees. I can also gas up the truck so really makes it worth doing it this way. Sad that the one Canadian dealer I found who sells this battery wanted 119.00 I also changed my shipping info on ebay and paypal so it's all automatic should I buy stuff there. Ed

You can actually save even more cash on the same battery (and the shipping). I got my KLR's Deka AGM through Tri-state battery (www.tristatebattery.com) for just $66.95 (shipping included). I had mine shipped to PackageExpress in Sumas. They also charge you a couple of bucks to receive the package and email you, but there is no annual fee.

Even with the annual fee I still save money in the long run cause I buy a lot of stuff online and at Ebay not to mention the drive from Cloverdale to Sumas.

I generally shop locally and don't mind paying a LITTLE more to support our economy, but within reason! Here at home the same battery was going to cost me $170. $66.95 was far below even the COST price for our local dealer. One hundred dollars MORE for a $66 item is where my Scottish frugality surpasses my generous economic ideals.

I got my Yuasa from Mile Zero for $98+tax . Other batteries I have tried have not lasted me one quarter the life I get out of Yuasa's. My daughter has a TRX Honda Quad that barely gets ridden and it fires up time and time again with the same Yuasa sealed battery that came in it 5 years ago. Maybe I have just been lucky with them but I know what brand I am sticking with.
