For those that dont know - Trailforks is a labour of love from Radek and the Pinkbike team (https://www.trailforks.com/about/). As a fellow rider, Radek has devoted countless hours building Trailforks for the benefit of riding communities everywhere. ?

For folks who've never ridden something as incredible well designed as a 950/990, they wouldnt know. Sure, the 790 is a huge step up from say a KLR or DRZ (have nothing against these bikes, they're solid mid level choices), but what it should have been, considering its built by the same company...

690 is long gone. I had hoped the 790 would have the same pedigree as the 990 (race bred, designed by pro riders to race on), but I was faced with the sad and the harsh reality that the 790 is a product of plaid shirts, designer beer, CAD programs, and worst of all bean counters.

Welcome Bruce! CRF250L is a sweet ride for exploring bee-oo-tee-ful BC, and good on ya re the survival kit - great to hear when riders are heading out there prepared (y).

@Paine - glad to hear Bob is OK, and soon to be home. I too love riding solo, and while I prepare as best I can (carry tools, tubes, medical kit, etc... and know how to use them) I recognize and accept the risks in doing so. Considering Bob's situation, validating that his Spot messaging is...

To kick off this thread, I've been struggling to make something of a recently acquired KTM 790 R. Sadly, while I hoped this was the logical progression of the 990 - it isnt. The bike has MASSIVE issues out of the box, but after a long (and expensive) road, I've finally got it sorted to the point...

The "puddle of doom" is as @Alex@bushpigperformance described - a huge puddle that covers the road near the Churn creek crossing, a few kms before the hill climbs. Here's a video of another group of explorers showing the "puddle" (@ 2:37), and about 30 secs later 3:08, a section of the hill climbs:

And what of the puddle of doom? With all the wet as of late, were any of your party submerged?:p

We'll be conducting extensive "research" this weekend; a 990 vs 790 Battle Royale! It's do or die time for the 790 - survive or be sold! We'll be throwing everything we've got at both bikes, from rocky loose climbs to fast single track :devilish:

Did the annual loop a few weeks ago, with a few new bits; Hurley to Braelorne to Gun Lake to Tyax, to NoAxe, through Marshall Lake, up over the pass, to Highline, to D'arcy, to Pemby - and then home. I'd like to go back and explore the Gun Lake area, as we found endless criss crossing trails...

Reza, as mentioned, its relatively easy/smooth until you reach Mud Lakes, and then its gets challenging (and thats if the giant puddle of doom doesnt swallow you). If you recall the ride we did together some time ago - once past Tyax - you can connect to the Marshall Lake FSR, which will...
