For some of those Hotel trips I bought a cheap electronic bicycle alarm from Crappy Tire (can't find it on their website anymore)
It's not very strong, but thats the point. When it's broken it lets out a verry loud shrilling "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP"!!!!!!!!!!
I secure it through the rear rim and the frame in a very hard to see spot, at night no one would see it.
This, along with a good one on the front wheel(or not) may help save a bike.
