If you like POWER they are worth it :hf:

The only people that don't like the POWER are the people riding behind you

O yah if you run across Tire sales stock pile ,I just put on #4 in just under a year :D

I put a Jardine exhaust on last week and let the monster out!

it's like a new bike now, tons more power..

Steering stabilizer goes on next week along with re-jetting.

14 liter tank goes on todayand I've ordered a Corbin seat as the stock seat is like sitting on cold concrete but not as comfortable.

The Corbin saddle is very nice, my brother has it on his KTM and its comfortable as hell. It's quite low too. I have the Enduro Eng Tall Soft Seat, which I like for offroading and shorter (under 100km) asphalt sections. I did one 700km asphalt day on it, at pretty much 70mph steady. The seat had to be surgically seperated from my backside. :mb::wi:Nuff said.

My 2006 has 130 hours last year (~7000kms) and still running strong. 2 hours this year hehe...stupid work <sucks>.

I think I've got the bike dialled now.

The Jetting and pipe changed everything on this bike.

Stock it overheated on every ride several times. Mostly on the climbs but also on slow trails in the woods. Since the re jetting it just runs strong all day long.

So all the Doo-Dads on the bike so far

  • 14 litre Clark tank
  • GPR Steering stabilizer
  • Jardine pipe
  • DBDAWG to quiet the pipe
  • JD Jetting kit
  • Corbin seat
  • Rad guards
  • Skid plate
  • Bark busters
  • Polution Control junk removed
The next dirtbike if there ever is one will get the Steering Stabilizer first, then the rest of the junk.

Hey guys, sounds like your 525s are bomb proof. Any quirks at all or just regular maintenance and go? I have a wr450 and should have went for he ktm but didn't at the time. I'm ready now.

Thanks.

So far so good....

I'm compleatly sold on this bike. Since I got it I havn't cast greedy eyes on any other dirtbike. A bit more maintenence, 2 oil filters etc. But the fun factor is way out there!

If you do go for it, the FIRST MOD MUST BE THE STEERING DAMPNER! The bike is just too squirly on pavement without it. I put it on last but next time it will be the first thing to go on. Next is re jetting and then exhaust. So it will not overheat. Then the skid plate and rad guards, hand guards etc. A $10,500 bike actually costs around $14,000

And you will go through rear tires.

Mine only over heated on tight single track

I just installed a rad fan and it hasn't over heated since

hay fellas

i have a 06 drz 400and ride the hell out of it, i love it, but this spring i saw the ktm at rtr and fel in love!!. i was riding with the kids at duffy lake today and met a cool guy from washington (jeff) that had a 04 , hesaw me drooling and offered to let me ride it! big mistake on mypart cause that thing rockes!! amazingly smooth low end power in the rough technical stuff, floatsthrough big dips on the fire roads. short ride but i am increadibly impressed!!love my drz but heavy in the tight trails. any body wanna trade a ktm 525 for a 06 drz 400???? ya i didn't think so.

later randy

How often is it overheating (uphill tight single track...)? I hope rejetting will fix it.

Mine was overheating on every trail ride with a clime or tight singletrack.

Re-jetting fixed it. It hasn't overheated since.

The Steering Stabilizer was $650 It is the best thing on the bike.

Gordbull, what model damper are you running, over the bars, under the bars, any problems? Also, do you know what size jets you installed. Thanks, Al

Al

It is a GPR stabilizer under bar 2nd version, it's a real pretty orange with the KTM logo on it. No problems. Just checking allen screw tightness regularly.

I had the JD Jet kit installed. They jetted it for our elevation here in Kamloops. 50 mph wheelies, No backfireing and no overheating. But 1300 km per rear tire

Cheers,

Gord

Thanks Gord, GPR was one of the dampers I was thinking of going with. I'm running the stock jetting right now which seems pretty good around sea level, but it runs a little rough up around Kamloops. Thanks, Al
