2008 XT250

Has anybody got one yet? Even just taken one for a spin??

I looked at one on the weekend, and was rather dissapointed. I din't find it very nice looking at all, and a few things stuck me as being rather cheap and cheezy.

Anybody else have any takes on these new 250's???

Hey,

As a replacement for the XT225 I found it lacking. The biggest disappointment is a new 5 speed gear box instead of the 6 speed the XT225 uses. Until I ride the new 250 I don't know if 5 speed is going to be an issue. With the 225 1st gear is great for slow speed single trackand still able to run at 100 kph highway. We will see.

Or you can go nutty with the WR25R...

Lets see, it's $1800 more and the seat is 4.7" higher...hmmm

I thought about the new WRs, but have yet to see one. I was at Spunkys on the weekend and they didn't have one as of yet.

My only problem is my height, or lack there of...........................

I am glad I wasn't the only one finding this bike lacking, but as you said though take it for a ride first. We shall see.

Yes, but Julius you forgot to mention that the XT225 has been known to catapult it's riders into unsuspecting trees:ted:

Hey guys, saw the thread and thought i'd chime in.

noob to the board and dual-sporting, but I just bought the XT 250; granted, I don't have the experience you guys do, but it seems to be a pretty decent machine so far...

For a first bike, I'm pretty happy with it so far, it suits what I was looking for.

....sorry to hear you all seem to be disappointed with it tho

the salesguy DID try to sell me on the WR250 dualsport, but I just couldn't justify the extra 2K for a first bike, plus, i'm not the tallest guy in the world, and the XT250 felt like a better 'fit' to me

So yeah hi all!

I think u hit it on the head... it's an entry level DUALSPORT.

What is your opinion as for the first dualsport bike?

Is it good for trails?

Does it have enough power?
