sparklr, count me in for a trip to the cabin. It will be nice to meet more local riders and get things off to a good start as soon as the ice melts (or almost melts:ss:). I will gladly buy you a coffee if I see you out and about in the next few weeks. I may even be joining you with the KLX. As soon as I can get all the street legal goodies fitted I intend to get it plated. I am shooting for the next week or so. It is nice to see that I am not the only one with cabin fever.

Excellent  Might have to go twice just to make up for the winter doldrums. Perused the weather forecasts and Tues/Wed are looking quite promising. I may head to the lake for some fishing and inspection. Alternatively I slap my plate on and do a roadie to Rupert just for the hell of it and test my cold weather fortitude.

As for Fraser Lake, the weather is starting to look warmer daytime wise in a few weeks, if the forecast holds true. So possibly I could get some feedback to help with scheduling the ride, when do think you will be ready and willing, willing to slap the sticker on. I'd like to accommodate everyone. PM at your earliest convenience.

Well for me Dr Bike is away til the end of March and I think I will go get the new wheels then, so pretty well anytime after that if weather is ok. Even then we may be pushing it. You just never know. It may need to be a mid week decision since I don't trust the weather man.

Hey guys, looking forward tothis gettogether but being a tour worker (12hrs/day @2 days &2 nights) is a bit of a pain in the a** especially when so many other peopleare day workers Monday-Friday 40hr weeks. (Don't get me wrong I am happy that I am stillemployed at this time, and am not complaining about "working")

As KLRnorth mentioned in his last post, a ride in mid to late March weather permitting."Even then we may be pushing it" but, I grabbed my work schedual and thought I would post ithere on theoff chance the weather and everyone elses time off permittsand maybe it would jive with my time off as well.

There are a few choices for me if weekends are the perfered time off, during the months of March and April. (My shift rotates 1 day ahead every week)

March: 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd / 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th (primarily weekends example: Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday)

April: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th / 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th / 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd (mix weekends and weekdays, example: Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday)

If this does'nt work out for me this time out SparKLR will just have to have another get together...:D

Just a thought on a possible day trip for everyone who hasn't seen this area yet, like me. 60 Km'ish one-way to Nechako Canyon, Cheslatta Falls and Kenney Dam via Holy Cross FSR. Apparently this road is plowed all winter for access and likely will be rideable in April.

So what is everyone thinking? Leave on a Friday evening and have a day and a half to explore or early on a saturday and have a bit less time? I only need a day or two notice usually...and CAN"T WAIT!!!

 A balmy -34C at the Lake this morning. Good news is that once this Arctic outflow passes warmer temps are forecasted. It would be nice to sneak off on Friday, and the earlier the better. That would leave all day Saturday to leisurely explore the area and leave Sunday open mainly for the tryst back. Perhaps a Friday afternoon departure might work. I sent everyone a PM regarding Easter weekend availability, yet no replies. If you are out for that weekend, please PM.

I too can't wait to get out there and am seriously contemplating slapping a plate on within a week or so. It's not much fun burning up and down the street. If anyone gets a plate on, give me a PM so maybe a java visit might be in order.

I just received another recall notice for wiring harness chafing and muffler bolts. They now want to scrape the paint off the muffler mounts and install new bolts. Not fond of the paint scraping option, so I'll check with the dealer on this.

I don't know, that sounds like too much fun. It's been a long work filled winter of being locked up. I just don't think I can handle that much excitement....but I'll try. A mid or late afternoon leave would be good for me. Really anytime after 1 but more likely I can finish up by 2 or so. My god it's cold here today.

How long is the drive there? About four hours? I hope we can do it a couple of times, man that would be a good start to the summer.

Recalls on the new KLR's better let chucky, kermode and greg..I mean proudman know about that.

Hey Guys,

I just received my recall notice this week. I was thinking of making an appointment to get the work done as soon as the bike was on the road-- to avoid having to trailer the thing down to the dealer.

Mika: I'll send you a PM in the next couple days with my schedule. If we know ahead of time when we'll go, I'll book it off. If not, I'll just hope for the best.

Oh, by the way, I broke down and purchased the OEM saddle bags to get me by until I plan a long trip and need something sturdier like the Pellican cases. I'm still looking for a tank bag. Either way, I'll be able to make the FL trip.

I'll probably head to FL in the next week or two for an inspection type of thing (see if the beer fridge is ok), do a little ice fishing etc. I can take some stuff up for anybody who wants to lighten their load for the haul there, keep in mind it has to come back by bike. If you like, garbage bag your items and tag your name on it. I will PM everyone ahead of time and we can arrange a pick up in Terrace.

The wolfman tankbag is a popular option, mine has stood up well, I would not bother with a waterproof cover but the bag itself is good.

Looking forward to having the lady between my legs again.....voroom voroom:dude: spring is but days away! right?

It's snowing here today. Can't be too long thought...right?

I was excited about three weeks ago, but have given up wasting my energy on it. It looks like it may another three weeks. Last year I had her insured about this time and it was pretty nice weather. Then it turned south for the rest of the summer. Hopefully a late start to spring will give us a nicer summer this year.

Have you picked up the new ride yet klrnorth? I still have a few things to do to get the KLX plated, but can hurry things up as soon as it is viable.

One more weekend to ski and then I will be riding regardless of the weather:hb:

It would be nice if the late spring leads to a nice summer. I will not be holding my breath.

Sparklr, have you made the trip to the lake yet?

No, was hoping too this weekend but have meetings in town here. Hopefully sell the PIG, I mean KLR this weekend as well. Maybe next I can go. Not positive, depends on the weather. Won't be long now I think. Can't wait to have some fun on them little bikes Kermode.

Early April I will be on the road regardless I'd imagine. You gonna keep the KLR?

We are going to the Lake this weekend as the weather is looking sunny. Was hoping to go earlier but weather was too cold, not for Ice Fishing but I wanted to cart some water up and leave it with not much risk of it freezing. Seems fairly safe now, although the weather indicates flurries on 'n off for the next several weeks. My sticker may accidently hit the plate April 1st for a ride to Terrace for all the warranty work. Coffee anyone?

PM'd you all.

klrnorth, I had planned to sell the KLR, but things may be changing. I am up for a new position that will see me covering services in Kitimat, Prince Rupert, east as far as Houston, QCI and north as far as Atlin. This will mean lot's of travel and I can't think of a better way of doing it than by bike for 6 months of the year:tup: The klx will not be a good fit for that purpose, so I get to keep them both:dr:

Sorry to hear that Kermode, even worse you may be forced to actually buy a sweet, I mean hellish, road bike, maybe a Ducati or something horrible like that. Man I am glad I am not in your shoes!!

This is going to be a great summer of riding.

Hey Guys,

I gave-in to temptation and got my sticker yesterday! Want to take the bike in to the shop while I'm away next week so there's no waiting when I return. Anyway, while I was completing the transaction I asked if the weather would hold and the agent assured me that once I put insurance on the bike that it would snow again. I told her I was doing it anyway and not to blame me if Winter came back for revenge. As I exited the building it began to snow/hail! They all came to the window with arms up in the air andexpressions like this
shock.gif
that seemed to say "I told you so!" and blaming me for the weather!:mad3: It stopped about five minutes later as if it only snowed/hailed to taunt me!Then, after work,I tried to go for a ride. It was overcast but it looked acceptable for a short burn around town. By the time I got ready and had the bike warming up it started snowing! :mad3:I was thinking, what kind of thing did I do to deserve bad the Karma I was getting? What did I do to "Murphy" to deserve the wrath of his law?

Finally, after breaking for tea with Greg, the sky opened up a bit and I did get out for a quick spin! :dr:

As for coffee on April 1st, I'll be away. Will have to do something after the 6th. Catch you next time. ...by the way, I decided to insure the bike for 8 mos. I hope that's not too optimistic ...again!

I am with you Chuck and will also make sure I have 8 months this year. After hauling the KLR on and off the truck last November, I am not getting caught out again this year.:hr: I very nearly ended up finding out just how crash-worthy the plastic fairings are.

I am hoping to have the KLX plated first and I am anxiously watching the mail for the registration to arrive (long story - I will explain when we all get together face to face).

It was -3 on my way in to work today, so it may still be a few weeks before I am brave enough to use a bike for commuting.:)
