Didn't have the maps on my computer, only the GPS...until today.A guy from work came through with the entire set. Now I have the whole country. Would still like to have Alaska though. And I have to agree with Blocker, tremendous detail Proudman...nice job. Initially thought we were back-tracking to Kitwanga to start the trek; Kalum Lake Roadfrom Greg's placelooks much better.

I'm not going on this trip
but I thought I'd offer some advise. You may wish to reconsider your plan of taking the Nisgaa Hwy (113) and Cranberry Connector instead of taking Hwy 37 north from Kitwanga. The Cranberry is a logging road full of potholes and very dry and dusty right now.I would suggest that going North from Kitwanga will give you a better start to your trip. That's my "two cents".
Enjoy your trip. I'm looking forward to a ride report and photos as I am planning to do the trip June 2010! (got kitchen pass already!)

We'll be in Terrace Friday morning regardless. I was under the impression the Nisgaa Hwy was paved but will consider the advise for sure. If you're available, we should have coffee before we launch. June 2010 eh?...interesting. We'll see, maybe I'll be on that one too; then again I may have a Harley with ape-hangers and a pony tail to boot!:shock:

My stuff won't let me load the planned route for a preview. Just as I would rather ride back-track than do a boring loop, dirt and dust does not summarily exclude a potential route.
2 sleeps and I am out of here.

Given the choice & that you'll be in Terrace already I'd go via New Aiyansh & Cranberry Connector. Terrace to Kitwanga to Cranberry Junction is just miles of highway & backtrack
We were on Cranberry Connector a couple of weeks ago...the potholes & dust are nasty bad. However, takenslow & steady you should be ok. There are a couple of "surprise" right-handers towards the end so watch out for those. As you may know one of our crew wiped out badly this last time out. I've done the Connector many times including a couple of times with full camping load etc and survived...just keep the speed down.

Was up at the Cranberry a couple of times a number of years ago fishing...but its been awhile. Can't be more thana couple hours up the Nisgaa-Cranberry Hwy to where it meets 37?I'm okay with the potholes; plenty of those around here also. Not sure at this point what time I will be leaving Thursday from PG; I do plan on being in Terrace though byFriday morning, somewherearound 9:00 am. Looks like this stretch of dry weather is about to come to an end.

Loading the bike and on the road by 3:00pm and into Houston for the evening. Terrace in the morning. Believe that Blocker and Erronous Monk will be waiting...be there by 9am. Looks like rain...but it doesn't matter...I'm on holidays!!!!:clap:

The sun is shining here in Houston. This is the first day since my little mishap that I feel a bit like me. I just did a trip around the yard on the lawn mower....am thinking I might just strap on the Jesse bags, nah just kidding. Looks like the start of a great trip. Now that my hand allows me to type I will be able to add snide comments about your wonderful adventure.

Met (no one calls me mister) Blocker and the Erronous Monk and began our journey from Terraceup 113 through the Lava Fields-Cranberry Connector to Hwy 37...happy we did that.
Had a bit of rain heading North, but cleared by the time we hit Bell II. The leg from there was beautiful; sunny, warm and scenery!!!
As we were passing through Iskut, things began looking mighty dark to the North. Made the decision to stop at Bear Paw Lodge where we camped, were served a wonderful hot meal, had a shower this morning and a great breakfast before we left.
Can't say enough about our host Tony and Wife (sorry, didn't get her name)...both were very friendly and hospitable.
The ride from Iskut to Watson Lake was mostly R-A-I-N, except for about 30-miles south of the Yukon border where it cleared.
Happened by the Bentley Tour at Dease Lake...amazing. Have pictures of various versions travelling the North...what a sight!!!
Hotelling tonight...thunderstorms here in the Watson Lake area; driving rain as we speak.
But its all good because I'm on holidays and we will be sipping Jamiesons very soon...does it get any better?
The Erronous Monk has a tracker with us; its called Spot. We seem to be missing data from the Friday leg. Working on the problem so it does not happen to todays.
