Yesssssss you can come, and I will even buy the first round at the bar across the street from the Eskimo inn.
We had a great ride last time, it was all fun and most relaxing. We even saw a few female joggers with major headlight flashing along the way. I think that is the main reason Vince wants to do it again. Might be wrong he missed out on some big buns...along the way he may be going back for those.
There is an annual ride into Dawson run by a bunch from Anchorage from what I can gather, dust to Dawson or d2d, which is a hoot as well the party goes on in Inuvik on the solstice weekend, where the Canadian Government buys everyone lunch, we managed to do both last time and it was good.
I wouldn't mind going further west this time, but am really easy, don't really care. You can come but now you have to plan it.....
As far as I am concerned the more the better. I mostly camped but the other inmates I traveled with motel-ed it most of the time, lots of options in most places. Loads of gas and tons of options for food, we did have problems with beer once, bad planning.
I just booked the time off work as of the 16 of June, Ishould beback a couple of weeks latter, but that can be changed. This is about when we did it last time and the weather was pretty good. It was surprisingly hot, and dry. The only real bugs were in Atlin.

Leave the bikes at Dease Lake and start paddling.
But I suppose you meant a bike route. I think the Dempster is the only road way.

Nowhere near 1/2 way there. The distance from Kamloops to Houston if travelled from Houston north wouldn't even have you out of BC. Lots of adventure after that.Won't be heading that far north this year but we'll see, maybe '10.

We are nowhere near half way. If you want to come we will wait (a little) there are actually 2 others coming from the south eastern part of BC, they can connect with you on the way through. So that ain't no excuse.
Actually half way to Inuvik is sort of when you turn off the road out of Dawson City if you measure by effort or bang for your buck fun.
I am sort of thinking of taking the beemer this year so you folks on the KLR's will have to slow down a little so I can keep up.

I've been talking with Greg about taking this trip ...but in 2010. I won't be able to get away for a 3-week trip this summer. Take lots of photos so you can journal the trip on this site. I will be very interested in any pointers, tips & tricks, etc... that I can get from you guys.

I just finished my first draft on Mapsource.
2,458 km, one way, and no side trips, as measured from Kitwanga. At 100 kph and 10 hours a day I figure two and a half days travel to get there... or not.
Half way is Braeburn, YT.
I have included Dawson City, YT
I have marked all of the towns and campgrounds I have found so far but need to research further.
Dust to Dawson (D2D) rally is June 25th and 26th. I have e-mailed for more details.

BritishColumbia.com says that the road ends in Glenora and that there is a Glenora campground on the Stikine.

Coming back by way of highway 97, through Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, and Prince George would add 1,141 Km, at least for those of us returning to Kitwanga. Less if you're Dr. Bike :hb:.
A variation that I have done, and enjoyed, was to go from Terrace, up highway 113,through the lava beds,to New Aiyansh and then across to Cranberry Junction on the Cassiar Highway. I don't think that it adds any distance for those of us from the West but it would for anyone coming from the Far East.
Of course anyone who want to over night here in Terrace is welcome to stay at my place.

I like the idea of going through the lava beds. Glenora is at the end of the real road but there is a trail that goes along the stikine for a distance, worth walking. There used to be two campgrounds around Glenora, one at the river big grass covered flat area and one at a lake up on a hill.
Last time around we did a little side trip to Mayo, Elsa and region, good side trip, nice spot to camp. Good dual sport roads in region.

I agree the lava beds makes an interesting side trip and you never know we may join the many who have spotted a Kermode bear on the Cranberry connector.

MapSource does not showKeno, just Keno Hill. It's not on Google Earth either.
I did find it, and map coordinates, on Wikipedia.
It's only about another 14 Km past Elsa. The Keno City web site, http://www.kenocity.info/home.htm, says that it's on a good gravel road.
