2nd Annual Telkwa Pass Ride?
All speculative but at least this gives us something to talk about. I'm thinking Telkwa to Terrace.
I picked the date because it's late in the season so the water should be down. And if we are going annual then the first Saturday in September is easy to remember. Is there a better date?
I'm hoping that no one already has plans for then.
Should we make it an official DSBC event?

I would be in for that for sure.....and Sept is a pretty good month for me to get away from my business as well.

How long from gas station to gas station roughly?

Camping overnight(s)?

It's roughly 122 Km.
One third uphill, one third downhill, and one third more or less level. The level parts usually involve blasting through various streams.

:D Just kidding. But there are gas stations handy at each end of the route. I drive a KLR650 and I used about 9 L of a 22 L tank.

But I would not call it a beginner's ride.
That's another nice thing about a fall ride. A full summer of riding first.

Since those of us with KLRs bring too much gas, all anyone else needs is a siphon hose. :D

Great, since my second home is in PG, I would likely take a bike I leave up there, and my CR500 is the most likely....but it can do that sort of mileage with the spare gas holder i built for it, and the IMS tank, I can now do 180-190 kms if its all filled. :dr:

Dorothy just pointed out that Sep 5th will be the Labour Day weekend.

Do we want to move it to another date or will more people come because they'll have more time to visit or recuperate, as the case may be?

As I stated earlier, this is not a beginner's ride.

That being said, I have no idea what to tell you about what experience is needed. I am countingon a summer of riding to get me to the right level. I was a real noobie when I did it last fall and it cost me. I still don't regret going but I think it will be better if I don't leave my bike unexpectedly again :).

I threw September 5th out for discussion purposes. If everyone wants it to be the last weekend I'm OK with that. Just be aware that last year the prospect of snow was a concern. I only moved here last summer so I don't know if that's normal or not.

First weekend of Sept is a good time to choose, usually weatheris good. Thats why I'mgetting married Sept 5. :shoot:

When I was young snowin the mountains by the end of Sept. was common, but not so much anymore, but it definately could snow. I still have my property in Kleanza, (for sale) but I'm living in Prince Rupert now.

We should hook up for a ride sometime flyfisher, or any other Rupert riders.

.Plan a ride in the Prince Rupert area and we will come .

And I forgot to say so but I have a standing invitation open for this, or any of our rides, to sleep over at my place, in Terace, on the night before and\or the night follwing any of our rides. We don't want anyone tired out before the ride starts and we found out the hard way last year (is there any other way?) that riding home after a tough ride can be really, really, really long and not good too :(.

Congatulations on the arrival of the new Suzuki. And on the nuptuals also, although I personally find the Suzuki more exiting :)

Not sure if there are any rides in Rupert worth coming up for compared to the Terrace area, but I will orginize a QCI ride, across the Tlell river, up east beach, around the spit, and over to Masset where I have a house for us to stay.

The new suzuki is more excited to me also.....:hf:

Wow, I didn't know you could get through there on a bike. I just flew through there last week in a C-172. I would love to make that trip on a bike, spectacular scenery.

Wow, I'd be all over this if it was on a Sunday. I'll try to rope a guy into covering work. Definitely want to make this trip this year.

I'm REALLY hoping to make this ride this year. Had to pass last year and I've regreted it all winter. September might be okay, I've got some healing to do over the summer. Got tossed off the bikea fewweeks ago and landed wrong - broke my knee. I hope to be backin the saddle by the end of summer though! Ride safe dudes...

Heel your knee well. September is a must since the snow remains lenghty up there but I do hope to make afew scouting trips out there over the summer. ACtually talked with a guys last weekend who said it's plowed all the way to the turnoff to the pass which mean about 60 km in the loggin road. Maybe a ride to do soon.
