34,848 kms broken clutch cable

I have owned the bike since day 1 and with 34,848 kms the clutch cable went kaput. I guess that's not too bad since I never lubed it. Bought a new old stock motion pro cable and installed it. clutch feel went from what was good to stiffer with the new cable. I had ordered one off Ebay and within two weeks of waiting for it managed to find another motion pro at supersport in langley. So a week and a 1/2 later the new cable from Ebay arrives so I compared them and installed the Ebay cable. Clutch feel is now better than stock as it is much easier to pull it in now. what I don't quite get is the tab that goes into the handle is visibly larger on one of the motion pro cables as is the angle of the bend coming off the handle. look closely at the pics and you'll see the differences. Is it the bottom (left) one that has the easier action?

yep, I assume it is due to having less angle on it.

I had to put one in at about the same milage... walked out of the dealership with a new cable.. and a new 2009 klr.. darn salesmen.... lol

new cable every 40k, no big deal darn good value really. One thing I found on my 04 was the mount at the engine end was cockeyed, putting an unnecesary kink in the cable, with a little encouragment (apply hammer here) and a loosen/ tighten of the clamp and, (knock woody), haven't see a frayed cable since, but then again I've logged about 100k on two klr's, so thats only two cables at 40k each anyhow so whaddoo I know.

I can`t complain considering I have put 6-7 tires on in those same miles as well two new disk brakes, one chain and sprockets and a broken subframe upgrade kit. aside from that the bike has been extremely dependable and never left me stranded.
