[Edit: Date Change] I'm planning to do a recon ride up the West Harrison FSR on Saturday, April 12th for the BC Big Adventure Ride III. I plan to ride from the Sasquatch Pub to Mt. Currie in order to gauge the suitability of the road for bigger bikes and the time it takes to ride it. I've ridden it southbound twice on a Strom and now I would like to ride it northbound with a Ural. After Mt. Currie I'm riding home on the Sea to Sky. (And pissing off slow moving Winnebagos with my slower Ural) I'm more than willing to pack gas for any smaller bikes that would like to join.

I was planing to do the same ride on Saturday (can't do Sunday). Are you at all flexible on the date? We usually manage to get through this time of year, unless the snow is really bad.

MtB, I changed the date of the ride. 13th is probably bad luck anyway. And trying to get a Ural up the hill by 20 Mile Bay is already pushing my luck. Know any good greasy spoons to catch breakfast at?

Super! I don't think the Sasquatch inn is open for breakfast, but there is Rocko's in Mission, 2 doors down from Chevron on Logheed. I probably won't join you for breakfast (not an early riser, and we do need an early start to do the loop this time of year), but I can meet you there. We should get to the dirt 10 or 10:30ish if that works for you.

Lifebb: Appreciate the recon, but DANG!! this season is not off to a good start for me, I try to be the first to go through there every year......well there is always E. Harry. Ride safe!

Last year we opened it up March 31st (on DRZ's). I am hoping to make it through on the big bikes Sat, as it has been pretty mild, and the 4x4's usually take care of the deadfall. Where do you guys want to meet? 9:30ish at Rocko's or just after 10 at Sasquatch? Or??

I think 10am at Sasquatch will work. I'll be up at Rocko's around 8:30 having breakfast. Once I'm done I'll head up to Sasquatch and wait for you. I have a desert camouflage Ural, so you can't miss me.

Super! If I see your rig when passing Rocko's I'll stop, if not I'll just keep going to Sasquatch.
Wow, the last time I saw a Ural up close was in '68, when the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia (I was small, but still have the scars to prove it). Hope you are not flying Russian insignia.

10 am at the Sasquatch Inn it is. Ill try and recruit some more riders.

Hey DT: Spot on with the time estimates, depending on how much snow we will encounter, number of stops and riding ability.

Just a reminder to everyone joining, you need enough fuel for at least 220Km.
It should be an easy C level ride with one "challenging" section (C+ish) depending on road conditions.
We will do this in groups, so please make sure you find a buddy to stay in contact with for the entire ride.

I'd like to get in on this, but I don't have any riding buddies as yet. This would be my first group ride ever, aside from being led round around town by the jibc course instructors. Trips like this are exactly what i bought my klr for. I'll be at rockos for breakfast at 830. Im on a blue 2008 klr650

The nice thing about these group rides is that you can always find someone to ride your style/speed. The main thing is to stay in contact so they know where you are and wait up for you at turn offs. If you are new to DS do not ride alone, and even if you get in over your head do not turn back on your own especially without telling someone. This is an easy ride, but long (over 200Km on mostly groomed dirt roads), and fast paced.
See you there,
Mike
