At what speed does your KLR650 start to feel a little light up front?

Hey Farm,

It's a new rear! By the way I'll be your neighbour in March. Blind Bay! You'll have to show me around:ted:

For now I'll ride on the island and get used to the bike because I can!:D

See you soon!:tup::hb::tup:

Hey, just my 2 cents.

I put on a fender brace (from the DSBC Store!) it did help a bit. I have found that the front tire will wear really unevenly (cupped) I figure it's the spindly forks without a brace.

I agree, you should check the tire pressure/wear pattern, the steering head bearings/wheel bearings and the axle nut.If the previous owner ran it low, and you put the pressure back up to normal, you'll still have the abnormal wear. I have also found that if you remove the front wheel, and don't take the time to line it up right, you can retighten the axle nut a bit crooked. This will screw up the way the bike feels.

My other bike is a 94 900RR. Iknow exactly howdifferent they feel. You will get used to it!

Cupping of the tire is due to front wheel braking.

Hey SneakyBC,

Did you get your lift ? If not PM me & you can borrow mine. I'm in Victoria & out in Sidney often. When I first got my DRZ400 it had a serious wobble at 80 km. When I checked the front wheel I found the rim was notin align. Checked with the fellow I bought it from & found out that he had hit a big rock & bent the rim.

Cheers,

Bomba

Thanks for the offer Bomba.

I bought the lift because it was on sale and I'll need it later. The tire pressure in the rear was 23 and the front was 12, so I pumped the tires up to 31 in each and took her out and she's fine. An easy fix!

space the buying of a lift and install a centerstand, easy oil changes, tire changes, fork checks, chain lube, must I go on, it's a no-brainer, no drawbacks, and most importantly it's called crappy tire for a reason!!

"no drawbacks," .... except clearance..... Hard to be a stump jumper with a center stand ;)

Hi Aaron, try over 26psi rear and over 24psi front for KLRs for street use ONLY. In dirt

20 r & 18 f is a good starting point. Bye, Leon

Hi Sneaky, after tightening ALL the bolts on your KLR, don`t miss the tripple clamps, fussing over tires, 26+ rear, 24+ front for street with perfectly trued rims, not going over shock preload #3 if you still have orig fork springs, snug steering bearings, etc, yep, your KLR is still going to wander a little at light speed. Slide your butt way back and ignore every thing except the next great corner. By the way, when you reach said corner, slide up front to help crappy front end get a good bite. How do you like the tiny one piston caliper? DP pads help a bit, as does a fussy bleed job or braided line. Bye, Leon

After you have finished doing all the things listed and still can't make is feel right, drop the forks 1/2" in the triple clamps and it will handle better and feel less twitchy.

Extra ground clearance is helpful to.
