Is there any concensus on where the best place is to take the KTM for maintenance in the lower mainland?
Any reccomendations or bad stories?

Holeshot is ok for Maintenance but if you need anything more mechanical, you may want to think twice. It's been fine with my 950 but my hubbies had to go back 3 times for the tsb on the starter then they screwed up the wiring with the heated grips. Mike is really great & Ron in parts is really nice but the mechanic seems a little goofy:?. We did hear that the guy in Squamish just got Licensed for KTM & is apparently a very good mechanic so we are going to try him next if we have any concerns but I think we are going to attempt our next oil changes on our own as they are coming out of warranty. We will give the squamish guy our bikes for the recall on the brakes & let you know.
BTW nice bike, just don't park next to me orwe may end up swapping by mistake:shock:

I'll second No Limits up in Squamish. The mechanic up there is really good with KTM's. Bit of a drive, but when it comes to my bike, if I don't do it myself, I'll take it up there. Talk to Karl, he works behind the front counter.

I find Holeshot hit and miss. I might have to take a drive to squamish for my 1000km check.
Ya Ron is nice but the older guy in there is rude. I let the person behind me go ahead if he is the next available parts guy.

Anybody have any Island input? The options are kind of limited to Action and Spunky's right? I'm yet to find a parts guy anywhere that I like. The guys I get along with take forever and make false promises on when parts will arrive. The rest are just dicks. I've never had much dealing with Spunky's. My girlfriend got me a helmet from them and said they were great.

We really like Action as that is where we bought the bikes from (950's) The mechanic there is really good. As far as parts go, Ron @ Holeshot is really nice & has come through with every part we have asked for & believe me, my hubby is pretty demanding. He would probably ship the parts to you if asked nicely

I agree that Action has a great maintenance dept with Sparky in the shop. My experiance with their guys at the counter have been good and bad. I don't usually leave pissed off but I don't usually leave with warm fuzzies either. Give and take I guess. I just got oil filters for the 450EXC for the first time today. Ouch, that is goin to hurt the pocket every 10 hours!
Oh well, we all know it's worth it to ride orange........or black in my case!

For KTM parts on the Island I've been dealing with Spunkys. For the most part the staff has been OK with only the odd miscom. between parts staff and shipping person to get parts from there to me. As far as speed, if I get my order in by Tuesday a.m. the parts are usually in the shop by thursday p.m. . One thing I find very helpfull is the parts book KTM supplied with the bike, by having the ID # for every part on the whole machine it avoids confusion between trying to explain what part you need and what part they think you need. By using the book I've never gone thru the wrong part shipped syndrome. As far as oil filters, my bike takes 2, the price on KTM brand filters made in a factory in Thailand: spin-on $32, paper $12. For HI-Flo brand filters also made in a factory in Thailand: spin-on $11, paper $8. The odds are pretty high that these filters come from the same factory so I've been using Hi-Flo s at about a $25 saving per oil change.

No Limits has been great to me personally and Karl seems to know his stuff. I know Wayne the mechanic is meticulous and his work area is cleanorganized...a good quality in a mechanic. They are fully certified on all the KTM product including 950/990.
I just bought a 990 Adventure from them and had thought of going south for it but they offered me an awesome deal $14,995.00 andI was able to use the KTM Financing at 2.99%...not available in the US. So i was able to get a good deal and still maintain a relationship with a great shop!

after 2 hard rides the oil starts to smell like burnt omelet
They are harder to change the oil but, once you have done them a couple times it gets easier (I watched a couple experts)
Now, If you had the 950 on the other hand......:tup:every 7000 kms
Oh, & I have to say, that Holeshot has really come to the table for me!!:dr:
My bike is running great & I am happy!! for now....
