You all whine about BMW prices and then you whine when they try to reduce costs by trying to put a quality factory in China.

And listening to you, you already say the BMW quality is crap. So why complain about Chinese?

f***, support the Japanese then.
I'll complain about anything :)We live in B.C. which stands for Bitch and Complain.

I do support the Japanese. I ride a 30 yr old Suzuki GS850. Just did a 5000km, 23 day ride through Idaho and Montana with no problems.

BMW quality is not crap. It is about the same it has always been for the last 50yrs. Just newer technology breaking down. Just that other manufacturers are surpassing them now. Even the Italians ;)

Lighten up there Subby, can't accept some constuctive critizism.
I like CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I didn't see any here.

I can't stand whiners, sorry:hb:
Typical BMW owner.Hypnotized and brain washedfrom staring at the spinning propellor logo on the side of your gas tank.

Wow, insulting whiners I should have said. I'm not even defending BMW. I'm just pointing out the whining. And I guess whiners don't like that.

Why did it take you 9 bikes for you to figure out that BMW's are crap. Especially for an engineer. I thought they were smarter.

I now realize what a helpful thread this is and how it moves the Dualsport riding ahead in our fine province.

I must appologise to all who read this, looking for something valuable, for my contribution. I should have known better.

SubMann out...

Without inducing a riot here, BMW has had catastrophic final drive failures on their 04- 05 GS's. Still like the bike, but want to see a long term 07 test to see what is going on. Some are chaning the oil in the final drive every 1000km and so far have been folllowing a thread in another forum where he has 19,000k and no problems at all except one dead battery.

Not to be too bitchy but of all the new series bikes with this rear end that we've sold we've replaced one on a rental R1200RT. Hardly catastrophic.

Sorry about that, got that info from a BMW die hard who has an 07 and is member of all the German BMW Forums and the moderator of a V-Strom forum. He sold his V-Strom and got a GS as he likes the bike just like I do. We pmed eachother today as I am still interested in a GS, but a little hesitant still to tell you the truth.

See, it can happen...

From ADVRIDER

07 GSA makes nearly 3K mile trip . . .

with no final drive crap out. I was somewhat shocked when I rode the 1,030 miles back home from Texas on Sunday (18 hours) and not a single issue with the final drive (or for that matter, anything else).

I guess I made the correct decision in not having my wife follow me the whole trip in a chase truck with trailer.

The trip was great except for nice smooth stock suspension on the road, which could have caused me to doze off, being able to ride over 300 miles between gas stops, so that I was not able to stretch as often, and I was the only rider in the group I was with to take off down a 14 mile dirt road shortcut, which got the bike all dusty. And to top everything off, the bike lulled me into some very spirited high speed twisties keeping pace with a friend on an R1200S, which could have gotten me a horrible speeding ticket, and when the 2 deer jumped out right in front of me at 75mph, the ABS brakes reduced much of the potential drama, leaving me with a much less entertaining story to tell.

This whole GS experience thing is just not hard enough I tell you. Where is the misery? I bought this bike after reading this board expecting every trip will be an adventure with broken bike, and instead my bike returns me to home on Sunday night ready for work on Monday morning. Horrible I say.
