Eagleguy had told the story of the fella who invented Post it notes. Having full pockets he purchased a large chunk of land in the Borrego area and wanting to bring people into the area he had contracted the construction of metal sculptures which he scattered around locally in the desert. They are some rather large and all really cool, quite accurately depicting critters in action. Detailed and imaginative and certainly time consuming to create. As to sight seeing in the area they are at the top of the list.

The route from Borrego was as Steve suggested and a fun empty bit of road that takes you almost straight to the border in Mexicali where I crossed into Mexico without even putting my feet down. green light or red light, sometimes you win and sometimes,,,
Arrived at Kiki's well before sundown and played the role of snowbird for a couple of days. Tacos and beer how hard can it be? The day I headed south towards Bay of LA got rainy just out of Felipe so the ride was wet, but warm. There's been road construction south of Felipe for several years now before long (with mother nature playing nicely) it will be paved thru to Chapala bypassing Coco's along the way. A recent and not unusual really bad storm hit this area and that new road got absolutely hammered! While most of the bridges are standing they may as well not be as the approaches are for the most part gone there are now go arounds past most. During construction a hard to imaging mistake was made at the bridge ends there were no large immovable objects placed at the end to protect the banks. When the torrential rains came and the ensuing flash flooding simply washed away the landings for the bridges. Looks silly when you see it, the bridge decks simply ended at dirt on the other side, rather "did" end at dirt.
A wee gap in the road.
some had very deep chasms off the end of the bridge. Look how the pavement and concrete just end into dirt leaving nothing at all to hold the bank in place.
The first go around south of puertocitos, where I patiently waited for the semi to be pulled up the slimy hill back to the road, where I was also offered (repeatedly, bugger off!) beer and Pot. um thanks drunk guy, pero no gracias. While it was fun watching that chevy roosting madly tugging at the semi. Riding in the rain is one thing just standing around in it is another, after being entertained for awhile I just slowly just rode past them all on the greasy mud. Hasta luego.
I did say greasy, right. Following the detour sign which turned out to be a longer and unnecessary as it just looped back to Coco's. The front end washed slightly on an angled rock and slippery as it was down the bike went, right now! Just like that 80's group, Wham! 3 things of note in the pic. 1- the almost 1/2 clean back tire 2- the almost sideways track left by the front tire and 3- the nice smoothed area on the right where I got a complete right side of body mud bath. The rain persisted thru to Bay of LA so at least I got a bit of a washing. The right pannier would remain caked in mud for the duration of the trip, that Baja mud is some tenacious!
Following the stupid detour I ended back where I could have safely been, which was dripping water all over Coco's floor while sipping a beer. (which of coarse I eventually did.)
everything scattered around the overpriced room at Costa Del Sol. Victoria who is the only proprieter I've even known there, isn't fussed if her place is near empty the price still stays the same which is to say, too much. After discussing the price, and agreeing, I handed her the too much US cash while smiling (dripping) and saying "this is too much", she just smiled back. Si Senor muchas gracias.
Pricey rooms really good food.
the next day at Al's place . MotoGed can be seen hauling a gas can just over the prop on the boat. The sky would clear and remain stunning bald head roasting weather for the 5 day stay there.
this spider was hunkered down in the wall mtd. box and had laid out a flat web to catch whatever walked by.

Ahead of the parked car with the door open you will find the best shrimp tacos on the Baja and a cold bevy can be had at the store. The tacos are reason enough to visit here even if the scenery and whale sharks don't interest you..
Thats it for a short spell, hope there are enough pics to hold you over. Bay of LA will be as far south as this trip goes and the trip north has by far the lions share of pictures. Hopefully you'll still be here to see a few of them, until then.
