Bought a KTM, today

Readingthe documentation.....it seems like I'm in for a handful of learning. I will take me some time to get up to speed, with KTM.

The bikeis equipped withKTM, skid plate, rad guard and hand guards. 49 hours on the motor. Has been set up for 145 rider....I havethe stock springs...front and rear.

Question time, are the scott's reusable oil filters OK to use? Can you swap out the rear spring or should a shop look after it? What brand of large size tank should I buy and what size? What are the other upgrades shouldI do?

Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark,

congrats on the new bike, you will be hard to keep up to on the new bike..it was hard keeping up to you on the KLR.

my bike also came with a reusable oil filter, from what I have read they don't filter as small particles as paper and they are very hard to properly clean after use. I think they can work in a pinch, ie, long trip and you don't want to carry a bunch of filters. I am sticking to paper for now...

Not sure how KTM shocks are put together, but on my XR changing the spring is a piece of cake once you get at it (ie remove subframe). took all of 2 minutes.., couple of lock rings.

Good choice !!!Welcome to the KTM Zone

For your suspension Carl/Mike at Holeshot theyare excellent in that department ,If you are thinking ofrunninghard you may consider Re valving / heavier spring then stock in front .

13 litres will be the best for what we do .approx 170km of hard riding :wi:

I am off fishing this weekend with the kids but next weekend lets go !!!!

I keep the reusable filtersfor long trip only .

Those oil filter are ok but the paper one are better .

Mark...

Congrats on the new ride. Now all we have to do is get Team Orange together for a ride. I am still the outcast as the LC4E is grey and black, not a speck of orange on it!

Now I have the heavy bike out of the bunch...but still lighter than the old DR. You guys all went for the 525's....well....maybe I will be out riding while you guys are doing oil changes.:mb:
