jburnin,
I got my case coversfrom here:
http://www.motorcycleproducts.org/guards.html
They are sold by a guy named Perry that is the administrator of the yahoogroups.com DRZ400 group. He charges only $42 US shipped to the continental US so I had mine shipped to a holding company in Blaine and picked them up but he claims to do overseas shipping (I imagine that means foreign...) for $5 US more.
Damn good deal on a damn fine product. They are every bit as good as the ones you can get at Thumpertalk (CFC) only cheaper. On my previous DRZ I cracked my clutch cover in a simple tip-over. Those magnesium cases are brittle. Even if you don't put case covers on, I recommend filing down the sharp points on the end of the shift lever as they have a tendency to cut right into the cover in a get-off.
Like Dirtybill, I've had one cover come off but only when I skillfully and elegantly

threw my bike into the rocks on the Routledge Run last year. I cleaned it up and put it back on later. It's quite possible that without that cover I would have had tobe towed the rest of the way.
Perry's email is
[email protected]and he's really great about answering questions, etc.
