Morning Day two: Depart Gwenlyn Lake, absolute beauty of a night great quiet sleep despite realizing every tree around me had bear scratching on it!
Topped up the Acerbis 21l tank at Goldbridge and headed down the lake under uonthe Tyaughton lake FSR a nice flowly gravel fsr. As ride hrough a nice little canyon you pass a local motorised trails area and eventually joine tje Mud Creek Trail where.it comes in from the south. You can access it from the Marshall Creek FDR off the Lilloet Pioneer Road, I will try this approach next time as it promises (on map) to provide more trail as opposed to FSR. I hit Mud Lakes with little fanfare the water was quite low but still.some.big pools. The Drone came out (vids later) andnI had some lunch and a cold bevera

Day two - Afternoon

The climb out.of Mud Lakes (North East) is worse than ever, the baby heads are now in deep deep erosion rills, the DR footings scrape in places so anything bigger would be a nightmare if you slipped from one of the high shoulders and were stuck in the roll. The jeep trail has always been steep and loose so now its even worse.
Some good creek crossings despite the mobth of dry weather. Don't let your guard down because awhile after your out of mud lakes before you hit Yalakom you get another set of these rolled out baby head loose hills. The trail really starts to impress as you head towards Yalakom and the climb up Poisin Mountain is excellent but rough.

I can concur re the hill of doom, as we not only had to go up, but down as well. That hill ended the water buffalo's clutch.

Day 2 Late Afternoon
From Poisin Mountain to China Head I was just thinking "What a friggin jam this trail is" This will likely be an annual camp and ride for me, a few variations of the route to try as well. Caution as you head off the Yalakom FSR you will come to a spot where the trail leaves the road just before a bridge, beyond is a typical talus side slope section and it has cascaded down as the slooe has not yet flattened to the angle.of repose. Anyways, the trail siblocked except for small cc bikes so cross the bridge and climb the hill, innthe outside ofnthe first corner (look hard) is the bypass trail going back down and crossing the river. The climb up to the open alpine is slow and steady with a few of thos rolled baby head hill sections that we found coming out of Mud Lakes except not as steep or bad, I feel like not a problem for experienced big bike riders.
Watch for the small trail up China Head is back into the trees almost past the summit and angles back on a 45. PLEAS STAY ON20200826_135640.jpgTHE TRAIL! Alpine areas have very very short growing periods and are very susceptible to vehicle damage. If we do not the whole exception for the route to the motorized closure will be revoked.
The view from up here is well, I'll let the pictures speak to that. The ride down and out to West Pavilion20200826_135640.jpgis scenic but not very technical. Don't let you mind wonder on the FST after your tiring ride on the trail, I got a way without injury. Thats a stitched up Wolfman bag after a good slide and my titanium pot after 30 mins trying to straighten it for dinner!

You're welcome, I couldn't find something more Canadian to name that route! ;-)

Damn I love that technical riding on those climbs! With the DR I tried to stay in tractor mode, keeping the traction as best as possible by switching from one off-camber to the opposite alternatively!

nice report and ideas for a ride, thx for taking the time!
and if one were to stop, as i just did, that Mile One Kimchee Reuben previously mentioned would look like this, accompanied by a stellar beverage.
