Clarke Tank Capacities

I recently installed a 15.9 Liter Clarke tank on my project XR 250 and found out it only holds 14.78 Liters... Whats the deal, do these things stretch or is the lost capacity due to mold distortion? Over a liter less than advertised is a bummer...

Some of the rides up this way are quite a stretch between gas, Side Bay for instance, you can log 400 KM with a few side trips before you see a gas station again... I notice doing big bike speeds with a little bike eats the fuel pretty fast, the range at higher speeds ends up at around 300 km with the new tank...

Are you 100% sure on your measurement, did it come from a pumps meter or from some type of graduated vessel you have David? We're constantly recalibrating our meters due to inacuracy here at work.

We'll the only reason I checked is that the tank seemed smaller to me, I squeezed in 14.78 L at the gas pump... In my normal experience is the gas pump reads high not low, I've filled my jerrys up and it always shows more fuel pumped than the L marker on the side of the can reads... But I guess I should check with a measuring vessel before contacting Clarke...

I'm a DSBC sponsor. Please thank me with your busi
Is it maybe measured by clarke in US #'s. Did you trailer it to the gas station or ride it and forget you already put a litre in it? Just thinkin out loud!

Aren't pumps volume corrected at 15 C?

I don't think a US liter is any different than the Canadian version, it lists as 15.9 L or 4.2 US gallons.. , I dumped out the tank completely and rolled the bike to the gas station to get the pump measurement...
