It has been a while but finally my 05 crf 450x is here. I have a dual sport kit on order and the bike already has a plate! It will be a couple weeks before all the parts are in but everything is on order. My plans for this bike are change the plastic to Acerbis, Add a dual sport kit, put on a devol skid plate and rad guards, IMS 4.0 gallon tank, Acerbis hand guards ect. That is just the stuff I have on order. If I can think of anything else over the next couple weeks it will get that too.

This bike should be a great dual sport weapon. I will also be racing the bike in the P.N.W.M.A. races this year. If anyone else has a X I would love to hear what there plans are with their bike. ROCKE

You could always add an oil cooler for the motor, frame rail / gas tank mod, and the streering down tube as a coolant overflow. Where can you get a 4gal tank? I have only seen 3.2gal for the CRF, post a part# and the manufacturer of the tank. Good choice and welcome to the club (honda that is).

Nice work with the fuel tank frame. How much gas can you put in the frame???

The 4 gallon tank is made by IMS. It isn't on the site yet but if you look in April's DIRT BIKE mag (the one with the 450x on the cover) you will see a ad for IMS with the 450x sporting the 4 gallon U.S. tank.

As far as the coolant over flow the x has one between the frame rails under the motor. It also has much larger radiators than the r version so I hope this will take care of the cooling. ROCKE

I love the frame rail/fuel for a reserve as the 450R doesn't come with any :-(
question though, you must vent the top of the rails to allow fuel in, is that inside the head tube or did you drill your own?

FYI: I'm building shroud adapter and a low current draw fan on the right side rad. this would be controled by an electric thermal couple (completely automatic).... PICS to follow once completed.

WOW way to dig up an old post. It's funny looking at my bike when it was new and shinny! 2 FULL years have taken their toll on the shiny part but she is still running strong. I will try to take a newer pic and update all the changes the bike has been through.
