Dakar and KTM

Joker,

If you mean $ cost then that would be KTM's choice to spend millions on marketing on this segment of the market.

If you mean the cost of a life, spriceless, but I still would also rather die doing what I love than to be diagnosed with for instance Cancer.

It is very unfortunate andI was truly shocked with Meoni as well Sainct's deaths, I think one should look at the big picture, over 30 people have died since the event started.

Then again if80% of the entrants ride KTM's chances are gooda KTM will win, the question though, why do 80% of the entrants choose a KTM?

Is it because they are "Ready to Race"....?

Stephan Peterhansel, 6 time winner on a Yamaha.

Rallies seem to go in cycles. BMW enters for a while, then KTM etc. Next year could see everyone riding 2 wheel drive Yamahas. Or maybe Honda wants to get back into it? Ducati?

And let's not forget. Everyone of the factory KTMs in the Dakar rally gets a complete engine overhaul when time allows it.

I have a nice poster from KTM with various pics of the Dakar. Most of the bikes in the pics are torn apart in the bivouac being fitted with nice shiny new stuff.:p

No idea, and OLN didn't exactly shed any light on it either.

Yes, but at least (thanks to OLN) we all know exactly how bad the Americans all did......!

Any one know if any Canadian has ever done the Dakar?

Bob Bergman, I think was his name, entered and finished this year! They interviewed him on OLN coverage near the end of the last episode. He spoke English, so was an easy interview for them.

Ahh yes, here we go...
