Dawson Creek?

Rode up to Lillooet this June and loved the visit into BC. Now starting to plan other rides up.

I'm thinking of riding up for a week this Summer and visiting various national and provincial parks. I'd planned to reach as far north as Prince George and wondered if it was worth pushing on to Dawson Creek? I do eventually want to push on to the Yukon and Alaska but probably not this year...

Thanks, Don

Another popular route is to head west on Hwy 16 and take the ferry from Prince Rupert. You would be made most welcome by Dualsportbc members along the way. A group of us started riding together towards the end of the summer and we are planning many group rides for '09. You would be welcome anytime. Plus this area is perfectfor dual sporting.:)

Met some cool BC dual sport riders in Lillooet this June, looking forward to meeting more.

Thinking about coming up in January to Abbotsford for the bike show.

If you go up to Dawson Creek you may as well go all the way to Grand Prairie and then you can take the trunk road to Grand Cache. You will come out just to the west of Hinton. You make a right at the Hwy and go into Jasper. From there you can take Hwy 5 down to Kamloops and then choose the way home from there. It would be a nice trip and some great scenery.

Interesting idea...I'm debating this vs. putting more of an emphasis on 16 West and making a token visit to Hyder, AK.

So it is possible to catch a ferry in Prince Rupert and end up either in Vancouver or Bellingham? Looked up BC ferry info today and it looked like you could do Prince Rupert -> Vancouver by taking maybe 3 ferries. I need to estimate the cost of doing that to see if the longer route I'm thinking of for next Summer fits the budget:

Thanks for all the help!

I think the ferry stops at the top end of the Island. You could then travel down the island and then catch the ferry over to either on of the other two places from Victoria or Naniamo. I have not done this so maybe someone else with more knowledge of this route will chime in. Sound like a great trip.

Yes, the ferry comes and goes from Port Hardy at the North end of Vancouver Island. There is two (2) ferries from Nanaimo, one to Horseshoe Bay, the other from Duke Point to Tsaw'wassen. There is another ferry from Swartze Bay to Tsaw'wassen ,this is on the South side of Vancouver, your quickist way back to the USA. There is also a Washington state ferry from Sidney to Anacortes. One last ferry from downtown Victoria to Port Angeles. Many choices. Have fun!
