U shouldn't have too many problems. The steering head bearings may only need to be changed.
I installed a fork/triplie clamp set from a cr500 on my old XT550. All I had to do was get a spacer bushing made up and use the CR500 bearings.

Only problem that i think could arise would be frame,one being Aluminum and the L model being Steel framed.But i think Joker the guru is prob right about having to change the bearings.Checked part # in a distributors catalog and both are different. The length of steering stem is also to be considered.:hb:
