Here's my 97' dr650 with 35,000 kms ...bike was stock with after market seat when I got it!!!...set up for more aggressive riding!!
MODS
-High Compression Piston
-Dyno Jet kit , K&N filter, air box opened up
-fmf q2 muffler and exhaust weld ground
-eibach springs,8.1 rear,.50 front
-14T counter sprocket
-drz250 brake light
-Black fork boots
-fat bars and risers
-accerbis hand guards
-skid plate
-misc brackets removed
-dunlop d606's
-custom cut front fender
I.M.S 4.9 gallon Tank
after market seat(came with bike...but cumfy!)

How's the high compression piston treating you?

My DR along with my CR both glare at me as i have been neglecting them for the past few months.

The high compression piston works exellent in this bike...a little more ummph off the line thats for sure!!!.....I can now clutch it up in 4th gear ....standing with a BIG tug and perfect timing....it was almost impossible to get it up in 3rd before...now it does it with relative ease....

....how's the cr 500 treating you?....fun machine ehh!!!..I miss mine.....any good scares on it yet

its in a pile of pieces in my work shop along side the DR....

Stripped the CR down to bare frame and am going to totally re-build it.

Heey,

How do you like the IMS tank? Do you ride single track with your DR? Is the seat Corbin?

...The Ims tank isgreat! ...4.9 gallon...just got it not to long ago so I haven't figured out range yet ......The dr handles single track pretty good actually...good tires are a must!!obviously the bike is heavy but you can take some weight off and change the riding position a bit to make it a little easier(bars)...setting up the suspension(to soft)and a 14tooth counter sprocket with good offroad tires would be my first choice in mods if you want to ride single track with it!!

I'm not sure what seat is on my bike...it came with it when I got it and there are no tags,but it sure is cumfortable!

Check out this site for suzuki DR stuff....he is exellent to deal with!

I just put on 14/47 sprockets, maybe I'll burn out to Burnt Bridge this AMand see if the gearing helps me climb and dig around in the dirt. I hope I can do a 100 kph on the highway!

14 /47 combo...wow...you can now official pull trees out of the ground and climb anything!!!...I guess you could always swap on a 16 tooth for more highway type riding with the 47?...might need to mess with chain length abit.

...lot's of good trails out burnt bridge area and shawnigan area....we'll have to meet up for a ride!...I'm pretty busy for a bit but should have some free time in a month or so..

The 14/47 works great! No problem doing a hundred on the hiway. Plus it grunts up hills and digs in the mud real nice. I also drilled in a rim lock so I can drop the tire pressure. Even though the snow is still a bit too deep and lots of mud, 12 psi was great to muck about on.
My original plan was to use both 14 and 16 sprockets. Burn down the road on the 16to say the Cariboo, and then swap to the 14 for some fun in the sun. Looks good on paper!
I spent half an hour getting the two sprockets and chain set up perfect. Then I cut the chain too short for the 16 tooth... :mad3am!
Oh well it goes like that sometimes.

I'll just pull out my left handed metric chain strecher and fix it up!

I've beenlooking at that hi-comp sucka for my 99.Just thinking about the tight single trak in the hot summer,not sure if the extra heat generated will be damaging to the engine.

But the stock headlight is verry limited.Next week I will be installing a larger headlight assy from a 1980 GS1100. Not sure how it will look but I know the light output will be far better.

I put the hi-comp piston in my 99 last year and it works great with premium but it pings like a mother on regular or midgrade .I wouldn't do it again didn't notice much of a performance gain but I put it in over the winter so I hadn't ridden it for 5 months.
