Thanks for the graphics:hb: At least you didn't get beaten up too much by the rocks. Which reminds me ...we better get some body armor like yourself. Last week 2 of us were riding down a steep, rocky road with deep water erosion and by the time I got down, I thought to myself "if someone does not focus on this..he will fall"...... next thing.... I turn around and my brother is pinned with both legs under his bike.... I ran up fast and lifted the bike off him...... he came out of it with a badly swollen kneee and bruises but no broken bones..... we are already looking for a good set of boots, shoulder, knee and elbow guards now.

I need similar gear and one idea the salesman at Kawasaki gave me was to check out the mountain bike stores. They have armour for hot weather. It sounds like it is worth looking at because they need to be very physical but still need good protection.

Here's what has been saving my ass for the past three years:

Of course there is my helmet and boots, but I'm assuming that you already wear those.

That is exactly what I asked him...hahaha! He said it happened so fast that before he knew it he was down and pinned. I kept asking him.. "but how did you get both legs to the other side of the bike like that and he does not have an answer..haha" he said it just happened so fast and a lot of odd gymnastics and boom...down and out... but he has the 606's on his bike too now and it feels really good as his tires were basically bald at 4500k.

That is some nice Armour Dickster.. is it from "Thor"?. I saw something similar today at the Yamaha shop and it had a really nice back protecter as well.

YOUR GRAPHICS ILLUSTRATE MY LAST TUMBLE EXACTLY.I FIGURED IT WAS ABOUT FROM THE POINT OF LEAVING MY SEAT ABOUT 8-9FT BY THE TIME I HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE DITCH AND WATCHED AS MY KLR CAME SLIDING DOWN TOWARDS ME. APART FROM THE SUDDEN THUD AT THE BOTTOM WHEN I LANDED, FORTUNATELY BOTH RIDER AND MACHINE WERE NONE THE WORSE FORWEAR.

The jacket is made by EVS (whatever that stands for). The shorts and knee pads are both SIXSIXONE.
I wear this stuff all summer. I put it on over my civis for my commute to work and, of course, when I'm crashing around the backroads and trails.
If you right click the photos you should be able to link to the website to read more.
It's too bad I wasn't wearing this stuff when I fell off the roof of my shed last weekend!

Thats a pretty cool jacket. Did not realize it was a one piece unit. Me lika very much.
Falling off your shed sounds painful:shock:

Yes falling off the roof (~3.5m) was excruciatingly painful. What is more painful is that my bike may be sitting for a while ... something about a spinal compression fracture. I'm insured until the beginning of November so , weather permitting, I'll be back:tup:!
I'm glad it didn't happen while riding, so far my wife is oblivious to the risky nature of some of the trail riding I do.
Cheers:hb:

:shock:That doesn't sound too good. Hopefully your can get back on the trails before Winter sets in. At least if you fall there, you have your Robocop armour for protection.

I just did the most damage to my KLR on a simple drop. I stalled it on a very heavy sandy gravel hill and everything was fine. Then I wanted to put my right foot down and lost my balance and the bike went down. I could not lift it up so I had to slide it around the rocks and dinged up the tank, fender and radiator plastic guard.:mad3:I wonder what the green plastic radiator guard is going to set me back. I think I better get into weight lifting so that the KLR will feel lighter when I try to lift up on the side of a hill. This time I did not have the strenght to lift it against gravity.

That sucks. You know your damaging it but you have no choice. That's the worst:X

I'm probably not helping but I will say that since it is just plastic, you can leave it and keep your eyes peeled on ebay. I see people stripping KLR's all the time and selling the parts on ebay. I paid $150 from Kawasaki for my instrument box plastic housing, (Just the underneath white box), when I could have got the whole box including instruments on ebay for $60.

Or you could paint your bike yellow and make all the Suzuki owners think Suzuki just came out with an amazing new bike:tup:

Worst thing is I dinged my shinny black tank too! I wore my loose zipper walking shoes and that is why I lost my balance as they nearly fell off when I tried to put my foot down. Ebay sounds like a good idea for parts, but it would be hard getting colors for an 06. I will keep my eyes peeled. Thanks!

The dealer just told me that a new green plastic radiator guard and decal will cost me $203.00..... has Kawasaki gone nuts! If I buy 30 plastic guards and decals, it will cost me over $6,000.00... about the same price as a new KLR:shock:
