Anybody done this? Was there a noticeable gain? Were any jetting changes required (I have a 3x3 and rejet)?

DRZ E exhaust on an S?

Hey Matthew,
There are tons of posts on this topic on Thumpertalk but the general consensus seems to be that there are small gains to be had and you will most likely have to rejet. I am also assuming that you plan to change the header, do a complete swap.

I added the FMF Powerbomb and FMF Q4 Slipon. The power increase seems to be marginal but it sounds and looks way cooler :clap:

If you have access to a cheap E header i would do it.
I found a used yosh system (not the titaninium) and was very impressed with the power gains. I was a total skeptic about it until I put it on.

Kerry - I have been reading the hundreds of related threads on TT and I have heard people say that they think you might need to re-jet, but have yet to find anything from someone who has actually done it. Have you seen anything, or has anybody here done this swap?

I made the swap on my 08 DRZ400s. I did not have to rejet changing from the s system to the e system. (header and muffler). If you have already jetted for the best performance with the s system you shouldn't have to rejet again when you put the e system on.
The best performance mod I have made (many will agree with me) is putting on a FCR MX carb.
With this carb and the e system exhaust I am very happy with the performance.
Just a note......if you break off the little retaining ring on the e header you can slide the muffler on the header the extra 1/2 inch and you can use the stock mid pipe mounting bracket.
I can send pictures if you want.

Here is what I was talking about, if you remove the metal ring on the e header you can slide the muffler on an extra 1/2 inch.
Then you can use the stock mid mount. (I removed my rear footpegs)
The e muffler mounts up to the stock rear mount just like the s muffler.
If you want to put the heat guard back on you have to do a bit of modification to it (remember the 1/2 inch)
And here is a picture of the dog, just because
I think that the e muffler does get a little better airflow. The head pipe diameter is going from 1 1/4 to 1 5/8 of an inch so there has to be some benefit. Can you notice the difference? I don't know. I like to say you can, but that might just be because I spent the 100 bucks on the e muffler system.

Looking at the part numbers there are slight differences. I think the only difference on the muffler is the tabs for the heat shield. We have both an E and an s apart in our shop right now Ill look into it further. And ill check out the part numbers further The different part numbers may supersede with

I have been told that the E muffler has 3 baffles while the S has 5 as well, though I don't notice any difference in noise.
