Bought a Suzuki gel seat thinking it would be more comfortable then the stock seat. Not so! Very uncomfortableeven after a short distance (30-40Klms). I do like that it brings my feet a little closer to the ground, but thats about all. Is there anyone recommended on the Island that canre-upholster my stock seat and make as low as possible and still give comfort?

I use an AirHawk seat pad on my Sherco enduro which has a very firm motocross like seat. I like the stock seat off-road for control and feel but I love the AirHawk seat pad when riding on the hiway. Lots of good reviews out there and the feature I like the best is that I can take it off and roll it up small enough to stow in my backpack when I hit the trails.

I have to agree. I bought a used DRZ gel seat last year and it was actually worse then then stock seat. I did get a SDG seat which was awesone but it's at same level as the stock seat. Sounds like you need to go lower so that may not help you.

There was a guy at the Van. show that will do seats but I did not get his name. I am looking for a better seat for a DR650 had the same problem with my DR400. I think we might be able to get the guys name from Tomcycle on this sight. If I have any luck I will let you know.

They are supposed to be the best out there, Renazco alsoare highly recommended, and they are both lower than stock as well.

Thanks Tom, been looking at both sites lately. I've heard only good about both manufacturers, and have sat on two Corbin seats and like very much. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy one as Paul suggested the other day. :?

Keep in mind , depending on the type/brand etc... , some gel seats take some time to mold to your ass shape , and will be more comfy after some time in the saddle ........

My pal has the Corbin on his DRZ400E I think it is one of the most comfy seats ever and it is probably 3"lower than stock!

Witha few iron-butt typeexceptions, the concensus is that the factory gel seat mentioned above isno better than stock, and in hotter climates its supposed to worse.This comes from reading and researching the subject online on the usual dualsport sites, so should be taken with a grain of salt.

When I can afford it the Corbin will be my choice.

i shaved about 1 inch off the foam material inside the seat and glued a 2 inch softer foam to it. now the seat surface is flat, has more surface to hold my weight. i've lost about 1 inch seat height when sitting on the bike. i can say there is less pain now then the stock seat.

Tools needed: fine hacksaw blade, contact cement, 2 inch foam, flat screwdriver, heavy-duty stapler , hammer, philips screwdriver, 12mm wrench.
