Dualsport Noob, with a KLR question

Hi all:

Afterseveral years of riding and one very rare moment of clear thinking I sold my sportbike and bought a KLR - should've done it a long time ago.

So far I've riden it the rain and in the dirt (once), but mostly, I've been doing maintentance as the previous owner did not"do" maintentance. Having to precariously balance the bike on a milk crate, pieces of woodand small animals made the job difficult and then, another moment of clear thought occured - a centre stand would make this all a lot easier.

Which brings me to my question. Which centre stand to get?

Dual Star - looks good but pricey

KLR650.COM - out of stock

Twisted Throttle- too wimpy

Whitehorse Press - looks okay, price seems right

Also, has anyone hada centre standinterfer with the skid plate, side stand, swing arm, gound, or unfold at an in-opertune moment?

TIA

I don't have any experience with center stands but as an alternative consider a m/c jack stand. Crappy tire has them on sale regularly for 80 bucks with a 1500 lb capacity. This will easily get both wheels off the ground and raise the engine to a better height for maint.

I've looked at ctstands but, I want something that I can take with me.

Thx for the input.

Personally I would skip the center stand, I found they suck on the KLR, regardless of make.

Get a bike jack for doing mainytenance at home, and the leg that Yak linked to for the trail side....or just a log or rock can often be found in an emergency on the trail.

Thanks for the input, looks like it's off to London Drugs to buya cane. I'll have to think about the ct jack or make something myself for home.

Thanks for the help
