How would this bike compare to a DR350 strictly power-wise?

The guy who wrote the report really liked his DR350 (particularly the engine), but he seems to conclude that now he is used to the higher reving RR and the huge improvement in handling, the DR (and most of his bikes, including his WR450) are up for sale !! Hmmm.

I bought myself an 09 wr 250 r for christmas. Got a smoking deal on an 09. I was riding an 04 xt 225. My riding partners ride ktm 400 and husberg 450. This little bike will stick with them on the trail and the ashpalt.It' s like the ad said don't let the number on the side fool you.

Yep, about the only people who are disappointed in the WR250R are the guys who somehow or other think (why I don't know) they are buying a street legal version of a WR250F. No relationship whatsoever - which is probably why valve checks on the WR250R are every 26,000 miles. This is a true dual sport, meant to be equally as home on the street as in the dirt, not a legalized racing dirt bike. So if you want a go-fast racing bike/dual sport, want to roost out of every corner with the front wheel waving in the air, this probably is not the bike for you. Otherwise, you'll probably love it.

I have a 08 WRX with WRR and WRX wheels, Athena 290 kit, and I pick it up at the end of the month in Alberta (yahoo).

Wished I knew about these bikes last year.

My WR has way more spunk than my old 87XT350 and 04XR400 had and is capable of higher speeds. And just like the XT and XR it needs lower gearing to play in the woods.

How many more sleeps Cowgirl ?
Picked up the WR290X from Alberta and have had multiple rides on the 290 with the WRX set up, nice. Since returning home I have completed almost all mods and went for my first dirt ride with WRR set up. I am really happy with the bike. After my second season of getting back into D/S riding I have had a 400, 650, 450, 250, and now a modded 250 and have found the right fit. Looking forward to becoming "One" with this bike.
