Ihave more info today. The new "F" bikes will be available as either the base model, F650 twin, or more off-road, F800 twin. The F650 will have 71 HP and the F800 twin will have 85 HP.

The F800 motor produces 90% of the maximum torque in the range between 4000 and 7500.

The F650 uses 43mm forks, the F800 uses 45mm with ~7" and ~9" of travel respectively.

The F650 has a single front disk, the F800 has dual disks.

There is a choice of two saddle thicknesses, the seat height for the F650 is 32.25"/31", the F800 is 34.5"/33.5". There is also a factory lowering option for the F650 which brings it's height down to 30".

The engines have 12:1 compression ratio and the rider can set them for premium or regular fuel from the dash. The rated mileage @90KPH is 3.7 and 3.8L/100KM which is about 75MPG on premium and slightly lower on regular. At 120KPH it's 54MPG for both bikes.

Both bikes have 512Lb payloads!

The standard hard luggage will be very similar to the "Vario" bags from the 1200GS, with expedition bags much like the excellent aluminum bags on the 1200GS Adventure available.

More info as I get it...

A dealer I talked to said the 650 is a single cyl, the same engone that is in the motard.

The pics I saw of the 650 showed conventional forks and inverted for the 800

Correct me If I'm wrong.:ted:

But what the hell will the price be?:wi:

The new 650 is a twin with 71HP.

The new 650 does use a conventional fork, but it is 2mm larger than the 650 single used.

The price has not been released yet but the F800S was $11,500 base and the F800ST was $13,000 base. So I would think you could get a nice GS for $13-$14, but that's just a guess.

I like that they made it chain drive. Looks like it will need to be geared down for any slower bush stuff.

The "test pilots" prolly have never been off road. That company can take a good Still photo but needs some help with the video.

They need more than help.

These boneheads build a bike to go offroad, and run the pipes under the bike.....first log or rock they meet will squash them like a bug.

I bet my goldwing is about as hardcore offroad as anything made by barely motor works.

Looks to me like the pipes run along the side of the motor. A bit low, but someone will offer a protective shield soon enough.

Besides...This new GS is a middle weight adventure touring bike... it wasn't meant to be a hardcore dirt bike. For that BMW offers the X-Challenge or the new 450.

You might not like BMW but it's great to see new models coming on line no matter who manufactures them.

You can bet that Tourtech has had this bike for a couple of months now and has already built a full coverage bash plate for it...

The latest prices put the F800GS at $12,250 base and the F650GS-Twin at $8,990.

That makes the BMW F650 cheaper than a Suzuki Wee-Strom and triple the warranty.
