F650GS vs Dakar?

Just a quick query... what exactly is the diff between the 'regular' 650gs and the dakar? A friend of mine is considering one and I thought to myself..... "hey, self.... what IS the difference anyway?!"

I think I may have found my own answer for anyone interested..... it would seem that aside from the whacky and wild graphics, the Dakar has more ground clearance, an extra 1 1/2 or 2 of suspension and a 21" front, as opposed to the 19 on the 'standard' version. that's about all I could see with a side by side specs comparison.



anything I'm missing (other than the several thousand more dollars on the invoice...)?

The Dakar has 2" more suspension travel, 21" front wheel vs 19" on the reg 650, hand guards, tall windscreen, slightly more agressive tires,graphic paint, no side stand, remote resevoir shock, thicker saddle.

Same drive train as the reg. 650 i.e. 50 HP/88MPG/170KM per Hour, 35 Amp alternator. I think that's it.
